PAY RANGE: $83,900.00 - $100,000.00 ANNUALLY

 

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The Sr. Learning Specialist is responsible for designing and delivering engaging learning experiences while contributing to the development of instructional materials. Learning Specialists have a strong background in instructional design, and the ability to seamlessly transition between designing content and facilitating learning sessions. 

TASKS, DUTIES, FUNCTIONS:

  1. Conduct needs assessments to identify training and development needs within the organization. Work with stakeholders to determine skill gaps, performance improvement areas, and training priorities. Identify long-range training goals and recommend programs to achieve goals, including the development of an annual training plan. 
  1. Develop and implement comprehensive training programs and initiatives that address identified needs. Design and deliver training materials, including presentations, e-learning modules, instructor-led sessions, and training manuals.  
  1. Co-lead eLearning education projects through the design lifecycle from scoping, research, and analysis, through design, development, and implementation. Design and implement innovative solutions based on the 70/20/10 model.   
  1. Deliver training sessions to employees, leaders, and other stakeholders. Use various training delivery methods, such as classroom training, virtual training, workshops, and on-the-job training, to ensure effective knowledge transfer and skill development.  
  1. Design and review course and instructor evaluations for use in enhancing training programs.  
  1. Analyze training content for accessibility and recommend changes to remediate accessibility issues.   
  1. Develop and administer training evaluation methods, such as surveys, assessments, and feedback mechanisms, to measure the effectiveness of training programs. Analyze evaluation data to assess program impact and make recommendations for program improvements.  
  1. Identify opportunities for process improvements, automation, and standardization within the training and development function. Streamline and enhance training processes, procedures, and workflows to increase efficiency, accuracy, and employee satisfaction.   
  1. Utilize HR data and analytics to identify trends, insights, and opportunities for improving training and development program delivery. Develop and provide HR metrics, analytics, and reports to support decision-making and enhance training effectiveness.   
  1. Manage and maintain the training program. Regularly evaluate and update the program as required. Coordinate schedules and program participation for new hires.

  10. Must be able to work under tight deadlines.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. EDUCATION: A bachelor’s degree in human resources, Training and Development, Organizational Psychology, or a related field is required.  
  2. EXPERIENCE: Minimum 5 years of experience in training and development related roles, preferably with experience in program design, development, and facilitation.  

 

  1. KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS:
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning principles, instructional design, and training methodologies. Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools.   
  • Proficiency in conducting training needs assessments and translating them into effective training programs. Ability to identify performance gaps, assess learning objectives, and align training initiatives with organizational goals.   
  • Excellent presentation and facilitation skills. Ability to engage participants, deliver engaging training sessions, and adapt training delivery methods to different learning styles and audience needs.   
  • Experience in designing and implementing training evaluation strategies, including the use of surveys, assessments, and other evaluation tools. Ability to analyze evaluation data and provide recommendations for program improvement.   
  • Familiarity with learning management systems and e-learning platforms. Ability to administer and leverage LMS functionalities for training program management and tracking.  
  • Familiarity with authoring and design tools (Articulate 360, Adobe Captivate, SAP Enable Now, etc.)   
  • Proficiency in project management methodologies and tools. Ability to manage multiple training projects simultaneously, set priorities, and meet deadlines.   
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels, build relationships, and collaborate with HR partners, managers, and external training providers.   
  •  Ability to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.   
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities. Proficiency in analyzing HR data, generating insights, and preparing reports and metrics. Ability to use HR analytics to inform decision-making, identify trends, and drive training program improvements.   
  • Familiarity with change management principles and methodologies.   
  • Experience managing relationships with training service providers and negotiation. Ability to assess vendor capabilities, monitor performance, and ensure adherence to service level agreements.   
  • Proven organizational and collaboration skills, to manage resources effectively, and drive performance and collaboration.

  • Travel up to 20% may be required.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

    1. Combined sitting, standing, and moving throughout the day performing work-related functions.
    2. Vision in the normal range to accomplish tasks.
    3. Hearing within the normal range required. A device to enhance hearing will be provided if needed.
    4. Frequent travel may be required.

 

LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:

  • A valid California Driver’s License is required.
  • ATD, Sacramento ATD, CSU, or similar Train-the-Trainer certification
