Host - Dining Room

Job Summary:  The Nassau Diner, is seeking experienced and team-oriented candidates for the Host/Hostess position. Candidate must be willing to work weekdays, weekends and/or holidays.  

Essential Functions:

• Monitor the open dining sections of the restaurant for empty and cleaned tables.
• Estimate wait times for guests and review guest waiting list.  
• While guests are waiting to be seated or waiting for take-out orders to be ready, it is the job of the hostess to ensure that the guests are made comfortable and kept informed of the status of their orders or wait times. 
• Responsible for answering the telephone, booking reservations and moving tables together to accommodate large parties.
• When table is available, host/hostess escorts the guests to the dining room.
• Once seated, host/hostess ensures to fill the drink order and give the information to the responsible food server.

Requirements:

• High degree of service orientation, positive attitude and ability to multi task.
• Able to work independently as well as work as part of a team.
• Candidate must be dependable and reliable.
• Outstanding people skills.
• Ability to work under pressure and high-paced work environment.
• Strong verbal and written skills.
