Prevention Specialist - Montgomery County
Summary |
The function of this position is to provide substance abuse prevention and mental health promotion services to community members in a variety of community settings. Collaboration and communication with Montgomery County ADAMHS, OMHAS, community partners, and GESMV staff is essential in this position. Employees are expected to value the highest ethical standards, quality services, and good customer service. Essential Duties & Responsibilities |
Responsibilities supervised by an appropriately licensed practitioner include:
- Maintains efficient and timely documentation of services and program activities, and submit program reports and records within GESMV Behavioral Health guidelines.
- Collaborate with schools, civic organizations, church groups, and community organizations to provide information and awareness on a range prevention topics.
- Network with other prevention providers and social service agencies within the region.
- Participate in substance use prevention and mental health promotion campaigns such as We Are the Majority, United Against Violence, Be Present, etc.
- Participate in Montgomery County Prevention Coalition meetings and committee meetings.
- Participate in health fairs, business expos, parades and other community events for the purpose of promoting healthy lifestyles and wellness.
- Provide training to community members on prevention topics appropriate to expertise, interest, and knowledge.
- Attend training, seminars, workshops, and classes to achieve required credentials and continuing education as required by the agency and licensing boards.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Program Director and/or Executive Director to meet program and agency objectives. Performs community outreach, information and referral, and education assignments, as well as consultation services as approved by supervisor.
- Attends community meetings, GESMV staff meetings, in-services, case conferences, supervision sessions, etc. as scheduled.
- Comply with all Agency policies, procedures and safety standards throughout work areas and maintain same to meet CARF, Department of Labor and other regulatory standards.
- Performs other related duties as assigned including support activities as needed to augment functioning of the agency.

Education Requirements |
Bachelor’s Degree preferred; high school diploma or GED with relevant experience considered in lieu of degree.
Must have a Prevention license (RA, OCPSA,OPCS, or OCPC) through Ohio Chemical Dependency Board or be willing to pursue training to obtain such licensure.
Maintain up to date CPR and First Aid certification.
Experience Requirements |
Prevention experience or related experience doing community engagement and/or education regarding health and social issues.

Employee must maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record acceptable to Goodwill's liability insurance provider. If at any time the employee is unable to maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to GESMV’s liability insurance provider, they must immediately notify Human Resources. Must maintain proof of having auto insurance.
Must maintain the ability to pass a criminal background check and random drug screens.
