Store Assistant Manager- Springfield Leffel
Summary |
Assist store manager in managing retail store effectively to achieve sales goals and manage expense budget.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities |
- Assist store manager with managing budgeted sales and expense to revenue (E/R).
- Demonstrate the ability to effectively perform the duties of opening and closing the store as needed.
- Performs banking procedures, including reconciliation of Daily Business Statements and deposit slips.
- Trains and supervises store employees in retail procedures.
- Display and model excellent customer service.
- Ensures store is maintained in accordance with company policies on housekeeping, safety and security.
- Performs stocking, display, and inventory duties.
- Performs merchandise ordering as assigned.
- Completes reports accurately as assigned including donation counts, mark-downs, time cards, readings, daily business statements, deposits, and cash drawer.
- Enforces retail sales and donation policy and procedures according to the retail procedures manual.
- Performs sales functions of stock rotation, merchandising and display efficiently and productively.
- Ensure retail quality control standards are met (textiles, misc., and furniture) and all employees are knowledgeable of the criteria.
- Assist with scheduling of employees to achieve optimum staffing in accordance with budget.
- Follows the dress code as set by Goodwill and sets a professional example for employees.
- Must work a flexible schedule to comply with the needs of the store.

- Assist store manager with the responsibility of the equal opportunity employment efforts and results, and take action to prevent harassment of employees.

- Assist store manager with conducting effective store meetings.
- Demonstrate a willingness and ability to work as a team member; demonstrate the ability to work independently.
- Must maintain the ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
- Comply with all Agency policies, procedures and safety standards and ensure safety training throughout areas supervised and maintain same to meet CARF, Department of Labor and other regulatory standards.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities |
Direct supervision of employees and volunteers in absence of Store Manager. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include interviewing and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems; opening and closing of store; daily manager on duty tasks in the absence of the store manager.
Education Requirements |
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Experience Requirements |
Experience in retail operations preferred but not required.
Qualifications |

- Knowledge of cash register procedures, stock control, banking procedures, merchandising and display.
- Ability to supervise and train employees in cashiering, banking, stock, and display.
- Ability to supervise and train in shipping/receiving functions, stock duties, merchandising, cashiering and customer service at retail location.
