Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)- Trotwood
Summary
The function of this position is to provide nursing services to the Adult Day Care participants, and act as a resource to caregivers, participants and staff in meeting participants’ health care needs. Assess participants on admission, with respect to health care and dietary needs, and on a continuing basis, review, update and execute that assessment. Establish and review health and nutrition goals for each participant. Act as a liaison to the medical community and funding sources for the Easter Seals Adult Day Care as a whole. Remain current on Adult Day Care issues.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Provide first aid treatment. If further treatment is necessary, the nurse refers the case to the family physician as indicated.
- Determine the need for outside emergency intervention, i.e., referral for 911 services.
- Conduct in-service training to staff, i.e., first aid, CPR, etc., as directed or required.
- Assist RN and Program Coordinator with teaching of program participants in curriculum areas relating to health and well-being.
- Provide treatments upon receiving a written order from a physician, i.e., monitor medications, compliance with instructions relating to diabetic conditions, eye drops, etc.
- Work with Division Management team to review procedures for safety and health concerns.
- Maintain clinical notes and accident and illness logs as appropriate for program participants and employees.
- Assist in the investigation of accidents and assist the Human Resources Manager in completing required Worker's Compensation forms.
- Participate in case conferences or individual consultations to apply medical knowledge and experience as it applies to rehabilitation planning.
- Perform all Child and Adult Care Food Program duties that are assigned. Comply with all Child and Adult Food Program standards.
- Comply with all Agency policies, procedures and safety standards throughout work areas and maintain same to meet CARF, Department of Labor and other regulatory standards.
- Other duties as assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities
May supervises nursing students, all program participants and designated staff in situational assessments within the medical area, i.e., Activity & Personal Care Aide, etc.
Education Requirements
Nurse LPN (RN Preferred) licensed in the state of Ohio and a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
Experience Requirements
Two years’ experience as an RN/LPN in competitive employment, be familiar with Worker's Compensation laws and possess the ability to evaluate the health needs of program participants and Easter Seals Adult Day.

- Employee must maintain a valid driver's license and a driving record acceptable to Goodwill's liability insurance provider. If at any time the employee is unable to maintain a valid driver’s license and a driving record acceptable to GESMV’s liability insurance provider, they must immediately notify Human Resources.
- Must maintain the ability to pass a criminal background check and random drug screens.

- Ability to deal with daily operational challenges with a calming demeanor.
