Key Duties:
- Works with Manager - Fleet Inland Maintenance to direct, supervise and monitor planned and unplanned repairs on tank barge fleet working within established budgets and time frames.
- Oversee all regulatory inspections for tank barge fleet. Address and correct any issues arising from inspections.
- Collects bids for major shipyard work.
- Coordinate the purchasing of parts and services for repair and maintenance projects.
- Responds to emergency calls during weekends, holidays, and nights.
- Assists with the development of planned maintenance budgets.
- Manage and maintain records for preventative maintenance program.
- Provides backup support to maintenance staff for vacations, illnesses, and as otherwise needed.
- Serves as backup for vessel maintenance and repair issues.
- Ensures compliance with state and federal barge operation regulations.
- Adheres to all company policies.
Required Skills, Experience, and Education:
- High School Diploma or GED
- Must live in or within 50 miles of Staten Island, NY, New Orleans, LA or Houston, TX.
- 3 years of experience maintaining tugs or barges.
- Ability to travel up to 50%.
- Computer skills: Word and Excel
- Knowledge of oil transportation and marine industry.
- Knowledge of tugs and barge maintenance systems and equipment.
- Ability to repair marine equipment on site under adverse conditions.
- Ability to deal with others using courtesy, tact, and good judgment.
- Maintain the confidentiality of all sensitive communications.
- Ability and willingness to travel to various states.
- Ability to understand and execute complex oral and written instructions.
- Ability to work independently with minimal or no guidance.
- Ability to get along with office staff and vessel crewmembers.
- Must be physically fit enough to board barges and tugs.
- Must have or be able to secure a Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) card to obtain access to restricted facility areas.
