Diesel Mechanic

What you will do:
It is the Diesel Mechanics responsibility to ensure that we are maximizing unit uptime.  We do this by making all the necessary repairs on our fleet of supers, belly-dumps, mixers, and tractors in an efficient and safe manner.  Utilizing the most current repair techniques, computer software, and manuals.

  • In-depth knowledge of diesel engine components and operational mechanisms
  • Utilizes vehicle computer electronics systems to interpret failure modes to initiate repairs.
  • Conducts safety checks on vehicles and equipment.
  • Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting parts usage, and accounting for repair times.
  • Reviews and completes repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports (DVIR).
  • Performs complex operations including engine, electrical, fuel, brake, and exhaust repairs and field tests on various construction equipment (Trucks, Side dumps, Belly dumps, Tankers, Mixers)
  • Performs emergency roadside services as needed. Requires operation of either replacement vehicle or service truck.
  • Proficiency in the use of diesel engine diagnostic software
  • Maintains a clean and safe work area in compliance with corporate and OSHA/EPA standards.
  • Must operate CDL and Non-CDL vehicles to perform road tests, as well as shuttle in and out of the garage for repairs and maintenance. This is a safety sensitive job and all duties are regulated by the DOT
  • Must be able to lift heavy equipment (up to 50lbs) including brake drums, tires, ladders, tool chests, floor jacks, etc. when necessary.

Experience and abilities you will need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 4 years of Diesel mechanic experience OR an Associate's Degree in Diesel Equipment Technology or a related program.
  • Knowledge in computer diagnostic software, machines and tools, including their designs, uses repair and maintenance.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with knowledge of hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions of technical nature relating to products and equipment.
  • Excellent communication & collaboration skills.
  • flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as required by project schedules and deadlines
