The Lead Mechanic is accountable for the planning, scheduling and perform of the truck’s maintenance, either preventive or corrective. Will have the daily follow up of the fleet requirements, including the operations and crew necessities, to guarantee the correct and secure perform of the fleet, maintaining the availability, useful trucks and assign Budget.

 

Job Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in fleet maintenance
  • Knowledge of equipment maintenance including Engines, air brakes, transmissions, Electrical and air conditioning
  • Thorough understanding of transport maintenance and industry in general
  • Strong technical skills in software applications such as – Outlook, Excel, Word and the uses of Fleet scanners
  • Strong Electrical and Diagnostic scan tool Knowledge, to allows the candidate to made correct diagnostics
  • Strong team player
  • Must be able to balance multiple tasks and prioritize on a daily basis.
  • Capable to made working plans as well as program the maintenance works.
  • Valid Class CDL driver’s license.
  • Flexible working ours and when it is requesting extended time.
  • Knowledge and experience handling parts inventory and maintain the require parts in stock.
  • Ability to manage a team of technicians.

 

Functions:

  • Coordinate with vendors to resolve accident and maintenance issues.
  • Coordinates with operations leadership to ensure vehicle availability.
  • Ensures that fleet vehicles are properly maintained and ensures all repairs are tracked in accordance with our accepted program and/or process(s).
  • Works with operations leadership and vendors to ensure that assets meet regulatory inspection/certification requirements.
  • Maintain and order stock parts as needed.
  • Present opportunities to reduce Repair & Maintenance costs and the overall cost of asset operation.
  • Maintain the garages in good condition, organized, clean and in line with the OSHA requirements
  • Perform routine vehicle preventative maintenance (PM) services per established procedures.
  • Diagnose, evaluate, and conduct mechanical repairs; component replacements and/or adjustments, and modify mechanical systems on company vehicles.
  • Document vehicle repairs via paper or electronic media.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as coding invoices, filing, receiving and sending correspondence.

Knowledge:

  • Strong understanding of the systems and mechanical workings Light to Heavy duty trucks.
  • Strong knowledge of Federal & Provincial & State transport regulations.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Programs.
  • Electronic understanding and internal wiring process for Video/security systems

 

Accountability:

 

  • Evaluate and determine priority of vehicle maintenance, servicing, and repair projects.
  • Manage preventive maintenance scheduling, quality, and operations satisfaction
  • Manage warranty claims to ensure all warranty issues are captured and completed in a timely manner.
  • Review the work of vendors to assure compliance with established standards, guidelines, and procedures.
  • Review vendor estimates and invoices to ensure maintenance and budget need are met.
  • Present opportunities to reduce Repair & Maintenance costs and the overall cost of asset operation.
  • Coordinates with operations leadership to ensure vehicle availability.
  • Understand the value of quality service , In order to maintain safety and company appearance.
