Information Technology - Data Architect
The salary range for this position is $95,500 - $152,300. This is a remote-based position.
GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION
The Data Architect will be an integral part of the Data and Software Engineering team responsible for the Design and maintenance of scalable data architectures. He/she will also define best practices for data ingestion, transformation, and provisioning to support analytics use cases as well as serve as a subject matter expert in data modeling, and end-to-end architecture design.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Data Architecture & Strategy • Design and maintain scalable data architectures in Azure (e.g., Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse) and Databricks environments. • Define best practices for data ingestion, transformation, and provisioning to support analytics use cases.
- Technical Leadership • Serve as a subject matter expert (SME) in data modeling, ETL/ELT processes, and data governance. • Oversee end-to-end architecture design for new data-driven solutions and platform enhancements.
- Mentorship & Team Management • Lead and mentor data engineers and junior architects, providing technical guidance, code reviews, and career development support. • Foster a culture of collaboration, innovation, and continuous learning within the team.
- DevOps & CI/CD • Implement and manage DevOps practices for version control, testing, and deployment of data pipelines and infrastructure. • Optimize and automate builds, deployments, and monitoring using tools such as Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
- Security & Compliance • Implement and enforce data security standards, data masking, and role-based access controls (RBAC) to comply with industry regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA). • Work with InfoSec teams to establish security policies, audits, and governance processes across data platforms.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement • Work closely with business stakeholders to understand requirements, design appropriate data solutions, and communicate project statuses. • Champion data-driven decision-making across the organization, advocating for strategic investments in data technologies.
QUALIFICATIONS FOR THE JOB
Skills and Requirements
•Expertise in Databricks, Spark (PySpark, Spark SQL), and data lake architectures.
• Strong proficiency in Azure services such as Azure Data Factory, Azure Storage, Key Vault, and Synapse.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions, Jenkins, etc.).
• Advanced data modeling (dimensional, relational, NoSQL), data governance, and data security best practices.
• Proficiency in SQL, Python, and/or other scripting languages. • Excellent communication and presentation skills with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong leadership qualities, with proven ability to coach and mentor team members.
• Problem-solving mindset and experience working in cross-functional, agile environments.
Experience / Education
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
• 7+ years in data engineering, data architecture, or related roles.
• 3+ years of hands-on experience designing large-scale solutions in Azure (Azure Data Lake, Azure Synapse, Databricks).
• Demonstrated experience leading technical teams or mentorship of junior engineers. |||

Employee pay will vary based on factors such as qualifications, experience, skill level, competencies and work location. We will meet minimum wage or minimum of the pay range (whichever is higher) based on city, county and state requirements.
