Certified Professional Coder

Friendship is looking for a Full-Time Certified Professional Coder / CPC-A to join our dedicated team at Friendship. The Certified Professional Coder is responsible for reviewing, analyzing, and coding diagnostic and procedural information that determines Medicare, Medicaid and private insurance payments. This position will be working Monday - Friday; 8:30 am to 5 pm. This position is fully in-person.

Roles & Responsibilities: 

• Assign and sequence ICD-10-CM codes to diagnoses and procedures for documented information
• Assure the final diagnoses, as stated by the physician, is valid and complete
• Extract all necessary information from health records to identify secondary complications and co-morbid conditions
• Determine the final diagnoses and procedures state by the physician or other health care providers are valid and complete
• Assist the MDS Department with tracking documentation and management of resident’s skilled insurance stays, as well as other insurance requirements to support reimbursement for services provided, by data gathering, entry and management
• Performs all duties according to Facility policies and procedures

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required
• Experience with ICD-10-CM coding
• Experience in long term care facility preferred
• CPC or CPC-A certification required
• Must be able to read, write, speak and understand the English language
• Computer skills with data entry, email, and other various computerized documents
• Knowledgeable of laws, regulations and guidelines as they relate to long-term care
