IT Manager, Guidewire Policy Center
Summary: Under limited supervision and with significant independent judgment, coordinates and supervises the activities of application programming, development, quality assurance, and project management functions in information technology, by performing the following duties:
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages the application programming and development function in information technology, including:
- Oversees the evaluation, analyzing and technical design of enhancements and improvements for various systems, making recommendations to existing architecture or new systems
- Oversees the maintenance and upgrade of all system applications, ensuring test and change control processes are developed and used consistently
- Monitors application availability, ensuring all systems are available for end users
- Maintains primary, secondary and on-call support for assigned IT systems
- Ensures best practices related to system integrity and back up procedures
- Oversees the development of procedures, technical flowcharts and set up of the execution of programs within the job scheduler for assigned IT systems
- Provides input on application level security and responds to technical audit requests
- Manages the quality assurance of the information technology function, including:
- Coordinates, manages and provides input on design for all application and/or software efforts related to development and enhancement requests, production issues and maintenance for assigned IT systems
- Provides customer support to end users, acting as a liaison between the company’s business operations and IT
- Manages production support and quality control by ensuring system integrity for assigned IT applications and/or software
- Ensures appropriate change management controls and adequate testing is conducted for assigned IT applications and/or software
- Oversees problem resolution related to system availability
- Ensures quality assurance process and procedures for assigned systems
- Oversees the development of procedures and end user training for assigned systems
- Oversees the execution of project management activities, including:
- Management and prioritization of project workload, ensuring proper resource management
- Performs project audits
- Assists with quarterly scheduling of projects from corporate tactical initiatives
- Ensures corporate projects are executed according to corporate strategic initiatives
- Functions as a Supervisor of a business unit, either directly or through subordinate leaders, including but not limited to:
- Recommends and communicates goals. Directs operations to ensure the achievement of required results
- Develops, recommends and implements operational plans and procedures
- Trains, coaches and leads staff
- Prepares and/or reviews performance appraisals. Conducts performance review meetings
- May recommend and/or implement employment actions, including employment/termination, corrective action, promotions/demotions, salary changes, etc.
- Serves as a contributing member of project team(s), or leader of project team(s), coordinating resources to ensure achievement of project activities
- Performs other duties as assigned

Education/Experience:
Level 5: Four to six years related experience and/or training; or bachelor's degree (B.A.) from four-year college/university; or equivalent combination of education and related experience/training.
