Material planners at Flexco can expect a starting compensation of between $25.00 and $31.00 an hour, depending on experience.

Production Planner

Location: Grand Rapids

Department: Materials Management

Purpose: Perform duties to maintain the master schedule within assigned product group to ensure customer goals are met and available resources are being used efficiently. Purchase supporting materials as needed.

What you will need: 

  • Bachelor’s degree required or equivalent work experience. 
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in related field 
  • The ability to Perform duties to maintain the master schedule within assigned product groups to ensure customer goals are met and available resources are being used efficiently. 
  • The ability to exercise judgment to analyze and determine production order release dates, guided by precedent and within the limits of established policies. 

What you will be doing: 

  • Work from forecast data, planning reports, sales data, ERP system, and instructions:
  • Analyze and determine when to release production orders based on availability of materials, production capacity, due dates and suggested start dates.
  • Review planning reports to ensure schedules are met and evaluate performance and recommend action plans to improve assigned product group productivity.
  • Communicate effectively with work all members to reschedule open orders as appropriate.
  • Investigate unresolved individual transaction errors and determine action required to ensure transactions and inventory records are accurate.
  • Check work center loads and capacities to ensure a balanced production flow in accordance with customer needs.
  • Place and expedite purchase and work orders as required.
  • Collaborate with buyers for purchased material requirements.
  • Responsible for inventory levels for respective product lines.
  • Provide support to manufacturing personnel on the use of manufacturing software.
  • Maintain and update basic ERP data (i.e. safety stock, reorder points, item master information, lead times, etc.) as required to maintain an optimal flow of material.
