The VP Technical Relations will be responsible for managing a team of technical relations associates who support primarily Enterprise (or large fleet) clients, both Over the Road (OTR), local market fleets and Merchant customers, ranging from large National Accounts, to mid-size regional customers. This team is responsible for assisting customers with connectivity, system integration and custom data feeds, as well as interpreting file record layouts in support of customer inquiries and generating standard and custom reporting. In this role you will report to the SVP Operations.
Responsibilities
- Lead and manage teams to respond to special customer needs or implementation/integration of new or enhanced services to customers. Develop and implement plans to help ramp revenue or increase customer reliance on Corpay/Comdata through better technical solutions. Provide ongoing client support and relationship management, while striving to anticipate needs and pro-actively exceed customer expectations.
- Work closely with Sales and CRR/Account Mgr/PMs to understand customer’s specific needs and sales strategy. In partnership with Sales work to strengthen client relationships, increasing account automation, and identify opportunities to further integrate their products.
- Utilize a broad set of operational planning and performance measurement tools to ensure all department productivity/service goals and commitments are successfully met. Create implementation plans and review communications regarding any process changes and project needs that are customer impacting. Verify content accuracy and ensure all associates are trained on the new process or project requirements.
- Champion and manage all communications, contractual relationships and product development enhancements with the following third party integrators and vendors:

- Continuously promote employee empowerment and initiatives to create a positive work environment, employing various methods of associate recognition. Use thorough processes to select, hire and train the best people to meet customer needs and provide for succession planning needs. Set associate skill development and performance goals. Act as coach to help associates achieve goals and provide regular formal performance appraisals. Conduct annual reviews, goals and create performance plans for the current year and ongoing career development
- Provide systems consulting guidance for internal and external clients and partners; coordinate with technical and customer relations staff/management to implement technical interface solutions.
- Provide trouble-shooting of issues escalated from technical services and customer relations with regard to our 3rd party interface partners and their product functionality.
- Provide support and subject matter expertise regarding Corpay/Comdata applications/products/systems/platforms.
- Provide training and mentoring skills to less experienced technical services staff.
- Participate in the research, analysis, design, testing and implementation of new technology solutions by our 3rd party integrators and/or Comdata product offerings and enhancements.
- Document issues and best practices relating to customer requirements and product implementations of 3rd party programs.
- Manage client expectations for resolution technical issues; work closely with technical services, customer relations or project manager to meet implementation goals.
- Support IT integration strategies; PCI, FTPS/SFTP and other strategies to ensure connectivity and communications with clients is compliant with new technologies. This includes large projects related to PCI compliance (weak ciphers, password protocols, SFTP enhancements) where we must manage the migration of large numbers of clients to meet new requirements within specific timelines required.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science and/or Business Management or 5-10 years of equivalent related experience is required.
- Transportation industry training and/or experience, or payment services technology background is preferred.
- Must have previous experience managing teams.
- Experience in design reports and supporting customers who use the Business Objects Reporting package
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of database systems (Access, SQL, Oracle, DB2, etc.) and related ERP/accounting systems required such as SAP, Great Plains, JD Edwards, Lawson, PeopleSoft, Infinium, etc.
- Strong familiarity with 3rd party transportation industry and maintenance systems such as Innovative, McLeod, TMW/Maddocks, TMT, Ceteris, Necho, Arsenault/Dossier, etc. and how they integrate to the Comdata systems.
- Thorough knowledge of major computer systems/platforms: mainframe, mini, and micro; including IBM 390, TANDEM, AS/400, RS6000, ES9000, and client/server.
- Competency in the application development and troubleshooting of Visual Basic, RPG, CL, .net, SQL, JavaScript, and COBOL.
- Broad base of knowledge with various operating systems including all Microsoft OS, S/390, UNIX, Linux, DOS.
- Knowledge of telecommunications protocols and connectivity solutions; i.e. SNA, TCP/IP, FTP, 3270, 5250, LU6.2, real-time, SSL, PGP, networking, firewalls, routers, etc. as they relate to integration with the Comdata systems.
- Thorough understanding of Internet application technologies / Web services and other distributed technologies such as XML, SOAP, WSDL, and UDDI.
