Director of Collections

What We Need

Corpay^ is currently looking to hire a Director of Collections within our ALE, CLC and TAC divisions. This position falls under our Lodging line of business and is located in Atlanta. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the collection activities of our organization. This includes developing and implementing strategies to improve collection processes, resolving disputes and customer service issues, and maintaining accurate records. The position serves as a liaison between the organization and our customers/hotels, ensuring satisfaction and providing assistance when needed. You will report directly to VP, Billing Operations and regularly collaborate with Accounting, Sales and Operations teams.

Role Responsibilities

The responsibilities of the role will include:

  • Provide leadership and direction for all activities within accounts receivable processing, administration, and personnel, including but not limited to collections and cash applications activities
  • Identifies optimization opportunities in cash applications and collections processes and work with stakeholders to help create a roadmap to implement improvements while maximizing efficiencies
  • Implement effective and efficient collection strategies, processes and workflows to support overall financial goals. Maintain bad debt at or below current metric
  • Continually review customer payment patterns to ensure that account balances are current, and payment trends are in line with company standards. Establish payment plans and negotiate settlement agreements
  • Provide leadership regarding the standardization of customer payment processes
  • Develop management reporting for daily, weekly, monthly tracking of accounts receivable performance
  • Develop and drive best practices in operations and processes ensuring consistency with company requirements, internal and external controls and audit requirements
  • Responsible for execution of overall talent recruitment and development strategies for Accounts Receivable including recruitment, hiring, training, employee development and performance management
  • Plan, organize, lead and control the activities of the group, including projects, schedules, priorities, and personnel. This includes operational and strategic efforts aimed to drive business process improvement including cost management opportunities
  • Foster an environment of operational excellence and promote/implement continuous improvement practices
  • Develop and maintain relationships with senior finance and business leaders within the broader organization
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve collection processes and maximize revenue
  • Maintain a working knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and compliance standards
  • Monitor all statistical reports weekly to resolve trends, determine deficiencies and resolve disputes
  • Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and laws.
  • Evaluate current procedures and practices in accomplishing departmental objectives develop and implement new and improved procedures and practices as needed
  • Maintain volume and dollar amount of unresolved accounts according to our KPI level
  • Track staff productivity and provide cumulative reports on a daily, weekly, or monthly basis, as required by the VP of Billing Operations
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

Qualifications & Skills

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Business Administration, or related field
  • 8+ years of experience in collections and customer service
  • 5+ years of management experience
  • Proven experience in managing large teams (10+)
  • Knowledge of collection laws and regulations
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills
  • Able to work independently and manage multiple tasks
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Occasional travel required
