Jr. Underwriter
General Statement of Duties:
Responsible for the underwriting within department process timelines of owner occupied and investor-owned residential homes, mixed-use & multi-family properties. Communicate with Management, Loan Officers, Loan Administrators, Closing Department, Portfolio Management, and Review Appraisers on issues pertaining to underwriting.
Supervision Received:
Supervision is received directly from the VP – Team Leader, Senior Mortgage Underwriter
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
• Underwriting of owner occupied and investor-owned residential homes, mixed use & small multi-family loans as stipulated in the Banks guidelines and procedures. Recognize credit issues and raise to Management for resolution in a timely manner.
• Analyze financial information including calculation of income and debt ratios, verification of assets, collateral review and credit review.
• Responsible for quality of data in Loan Origination Systems on assigned loans.
• General knowledge of rent guideline restrictions, flood insurance requirements and environmental concerns.
• Prioritize workflow. Achieve and exceed work goals for productivity, quality and turnaround time.
• Review of appraisals and environmental reports ensure compliance with Banks Policy and bring to the attention of Management any exceptions to Policy or discrepancies in the respective reports.
• Work in conjunction with various departments within the Bank
Minimum Qualifications:
• College degree preferred.
• The successful RMU Jr. Underwriter must have loan processing experience and 2 years of owner occupied and investor residential homes, mixed–use buildings and small multi-family property underwriting experience. Familiarity with analysis of personal financial statements, property cash flow, debt coverage, credit reports required. Prior experience working with a computer-based loan underwriting system a plus.
Skills & Abilities:
• Good verbal and written communication skills as well as the ability to work in a team environment
• Good computer skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel
Pay Range: $61,000 - $68,000
Hours: 37.50
This is a non-exempt position, eligible for overtime if the hours worked are over 40 hours.
The actual compensation will be based on qualifications, experience and other factors permitted by law.
