Company Description 

The Lead Enterprise Linux administrator will be responsible for designing, implementing, and monitoring the infrastructure; also, to collaborate with other team members to develop automation strategies and deployment processes. You will become an integral part of the team, making every problem of the platform a problem of your own, and solving them accordingly.
 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES


  • Daily maintenance of our Linux environment, which includes additional server builds, upgrades, and patching.
  • Performance tuning and ensuring high availability of infrastructure.
  • Design and develop infrastructure monitoring and reporting tools.
  • Develop and maintain configuration management solutions.
  • Develop test automation frameworks in collaboration with rest of the team.
  • Create tools to help teams make the most out of the available infrastructure.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND ABILITIES


  • Experience with Linux server builds, maintenance, administration, and patching.
  • Experience with Linux servers in virtualized and Cloud environments
  • Experience with AWS and Linux web servers
  • Experience installing, configuring, and maintaining services such as Bind, Apache, MySQL.
  • Installation, configuration, and maintenance of m Let's Encrypt management.
  • Creation and maintenance of Ansible scripts for automation.
  • Experience with installation, configuration, and maintenance of the DNS service, on premise and AWS R53.
  • Proficient with network tools such as iptables, Linux IPVS, HAProxy, etc. 
  • Administration and maintenance of HAProxy configurations.
  • Maintenance and monitoring of FTP (SFTP) services.
  • Installation, configuration, and maintenance of multiple Postfix Smarthost email servers.
  • Maintenance, configuration, and monitoring of CRM (Customer Relationship Management) application.
  • Maintenance of cloud-hosted status sites on Linode.
  • Monitoring and maintenance of scheduled cron jobs.
  • Familiarity with the fundamentals of Linux scripting languages
  • Strong grasp on configuration management tools
  • Familiarity with load balancing, firewalls
  • Familiarity with infrastructure monitoring tools such as ELK, Zabbix, ELMA, Prometheus, Grafana.
  • Ability to build and monitor services on production servers
  • Knowledge of servers and switches 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong attention to detail and problem solving skills
  • Able to work independently or as a member of the team.
  • Creative thinking and ability to ‘think outside the box’
  • Well organized, attentive to details, and able to meet demanding deadlines

 

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND/OR EDUCATION


  • 7+ years as a Linux Systems Administrator
  • Experience with Apache, Litespeed, CentOS, Ubuntu, Cacti, DNS, hosted services, MySQL, R1soft, WordPress, cPanel, ELK, Zabbix, Ansible, HA Proxy
  • Background in IT or on a Data Center teams
  • System Monitoring and Automation
  • Good knowledge of network design – Working with Firewalls, DNS, Load Balancers
  • Strong sense for security – both internally and on the hosting systems
  • Advanced Linux System Administration, Configuration, and System Security
  • Advanced systems troubleshooting skills
  • Prefer some programming experience (particularly Perl, PHP, HTML, MySQL)
  • Prior experience in software as service architectures (SaaS)

 

OTHER REQUIREMENTS


  • Strong preference to Houston area because of the Datacenter location.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation.
