Salary: $15.75 - $20.27 Depending on Qualifications

In partnership with El Rio Health and the Reproductive Health Access Project (RHAP) Program Assistant Intern (Reproductive Health Access Project) is responsible for providing clerical and administrative support to the RHAP Leadership Team. In this role, the Program Assistant Intern is responsible for assisting with the Text Messaging Line, community outreach, Pizza Protection Parties, and Social Media updates. The Program Assistant Intern will also assist with the scheduling, coordination, and participate in community outreach events that support the RHAP and projects.

 

The Program Assistant Intern works with general supervision and review, and any work problems involving departures from standard policies, interpretations or procedures are reviewed with the supervisor for resolution.

The primary goal of the El Rio Health Program Assistant Intern (RHAP) is to support El Rio’s Mission of providing comprehensive, quality health care that is affordable and accessible to all who may have healthcare needs, by successfully performing the primary essential functions.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Collaborates with RHAP Leadership Team to maintain and update content for text messaging line, including adding organizational content and creating check-in system to update content on a monthly basis.
  • Promotes the project’s text messaging line, which is designed to provide information to young people with sexual and reproductive health information, including how to access services.
  • Organizes and attends monthly community events to disseminate educational brochures and materials at youth-specific events.
  • Assists RHAP Leadership Team to prepare for public speaking through practice sessions and refresher educational sessions.
  • Assists the Advanced Practice Provider /Teen Health Programs Manager with oversight of the RHAP Leadership Team in organizing and facilitating monthly peer-to-peer Pizza Protection Parties to provide young people in Tucson with sexual health information which includes:
    • STI/HIV prevention
    • birth control including Emergency Contraception (EC)
    • sexual assault prevention
    • where to access confidential clinic services
    • where/how to obtain contraception
    • including other related topics
  • Oversees the project’s social media sites including, Facebook, Snapchat, Instagram and You Tube, Twitter and You Tube with relevant, pre-approved content about sexual health-related topics important to individuals and the community
  • Assists with the development of youth focused videos on the importance of contraceptive and condom use

  • In support of the Mission and Vision of El Rio Health, will at all times represent themselves as a professional role model of El Rio Health serving as a positive informational source for members of the community.
  • Supports El Rio by participating in community events which promote good health, and which contribute to a broader awareness and understanding of El Rio Health and the many services provided to the community.
  • Participates in all appropriate health care activities related to El Rio Health on a local, state, and national level to maintain and enhance El Rio’s image with health agencies, professional associations, and the general public.
  • Demonstrates proficient administrative and clerical skill levels that meet defined performance expectations for a Program Assistant as evidenced by successful demonstration of skills and performance for this position upon evaluation or appraisal.
  • Maintains at all times employee and/or patient confidentiality by controlling the environment and information being disclosed to authorized individuals ensuring compliance with all HIPAA and corporate compliance standards, as well as accepted human resources confidentiality standards.
  • Understands and complies with all organizational Code of Conduct standards, Policies and Procedures, and Service Excellence requirements with all patients, visitors, employees, and internal/external clients or representatives.
  • Demonstrates at all times a professional attitude and acceptable job performance for all duties, tasks, responsibilities, and assignments for this position at the assigned location and/or duty assignment that supports the operational needs of El Rio Health and as assigned by organizational leadership.

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Attending High School or equivalent program or attending a G.E.D. program
  • The minimum age is 16 years of age at time of hire

Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations:

  • No driving between sites for El Rio Business or during work hours
