Salary: $34.16 - $49.47 Depending on Qualifications

JOB PURPOSEThe RN Educator is integral in planning, managing, and overseeing the operations of clinical education within El Rio Health under the direct supervision of the regional director. This position is responsible for developing, managing, and monitoring clinical education, including onboarding and ongoing professional development projects to accomplish goals for clinical and operational training in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams. The RN Educator focuses on collaboration with and inclusion of subject matter experts to develop and implement onboarding and ongoing professional development to include an annual education plan and competency development.

This position manages the development, implementation, and evaluation of clinical education strategies needed to meet the mission and vision of El Rio Health Centers. This position is responsible for executing learning solutions to ensure employee competency, quality, and operational efficiency, using El Rio operating model for continuous improvement and in collaboration with organizational development, quality, compliance, and information technology teams. This role participates in the efforts for broad integration of a continuous learning culture, in collaboration with key members of Clinical Operations and HR/Organizational Development teams. The RN Educator leads the clinical education team in creating learning initiatives, consultation services, and design under the direct supervision of the regional director. The RN Educator expertly applies evidence-based teaching principles and best practice standards for teaching, learning, and clinical practice, driving a culture of learning that leads to innovation.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Responsible for clinical education operations including development, clinical orientation curriculum development, ongoing clinical education curriculum, budgeting, staffing, recruitment, and retention of staff.
  • Develops, implements, and evaluates new employee clinical education, annual competencies and needed revisions to education as workflow and services change.
  • Provides oversight as delegated by the regional director of some program development and implementation.
  • Collaborates with Human Resources on the development of educational modules, tools, and resources for clinical team members.
  • Assesses ongoing educational needs of clinical staff and clinical leadership on an annual basis or as needed.
  • Completes operations by:
    • Organizing workflow to accomplish established objectives.

    • Maintaining reference manuals
    • Administering necessary discipline
  • Provides information to leadership, supervisors, co-workers, and subordinates by telephone, in written form, e-mail or in person as deemed most effective and appropriate.
  • Controls expenses by gathering and submitting budget information, scheduling expenditures, monitoring variances, and implementing corrective actions.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and hygienic work environment in compliance with all Policies and Procedures including but not limited to work areas, workstations, examination rooms, hand washing, infection prevention and control etc. for this position.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and proficiency with the application of all compliance and reporting requirements respective to Joint Commission Certification (JCC) standards.
  • Controls expenses by gathering and submitting budget information, scheduling expenditures, monitoring variances, and implementing corrective actions.

 

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing from an accredited college or university.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in operations, clinical or healthcare environment.
  • Three (3) years’ experience in education consultation or support.

 

If applicable, equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, and must be directly related to the functions and responsibilities of the job.

 

Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations:

  • Current Registered Nurse license in good standing from the Arizona Board of Nursing.
  • Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) for health care providers.
  • Level I fingerprint clearance card: current valid and in good standing or have applied for it within seven working days after beginning employment.
  • Employees in this position are required to have reliable transportation that can meet any operational reassignments of the organization during the workday. If an employee is driving during work hours, the employee is required to possess a valid driver’s license and must be in compliance with Arizona vehicle insurance requirements.

Preferred Education, Experience, Skills, Abilities:

  • Master’s Degree in Nursing or a related field from an accredited college or university.
  • Two (2) years’ experience in clinical/nursing education to include curriculum development, program evaluation, and evidence-based teaching.
  • Experience in an integrative health care system (clinical, behavioral health, dental) and/or in a Federally Qualified Health Center.
  • Experience effectively utilizing information systems, software, and technologies to design, develop, and deliver learning modules.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish with the ability to speak, read and write in both languages.

If the prospective employee does not possess this prior to hire, fingerprint application must be completed within 7 days post hire. Level One (1) Non-IVP Fingerprint Clearance card must be received within 30 days after applying for the fingerprint card.
