JOB PURPOSE:   The Quality Intern is responsible for providing entry-level clerical duties and support of limited complexity for the Quality Department and its varied operations. Assisting with or completing these administrative tasks and general clerical duties or assignments follow well-established procedures and require minimal judgment in their execution. An employee in this position works with direct supervision and review, and any work problems involving departures from standard policies, interpretations, or procedures are presented to the supervisor for direction or resolution.

Essential Job Functions:

  • Assists with Quality Assurance or Clinical Quality divisions in the following areas:  Clinical Data

Analysis and Performance Measurement, Compliance Monitoring, Quality Improvement Initiatives, Patient Experience, JEDI initiatives. The intern should meet established rates of performance for the quality and quantity of work for the position, demonstrating a level of quality, efficiency, and accuracy in the employee’s job performance that ensures the highest standards of excellence.

  • Maintains proficient clerical skill levels that meet defined performance expectations for a Quality Assurance Intern as evidenced by successful demonstration of skills performance for this position upon evaluation.
  • Maintains at all times employee and/or patient confidentiality by controlling the environment and information being disclosed to authorized individuals ensuring compliance with all HIPAA and corporate compliance standards, as well as accepted human resources confidentiality standards.
  • Understands and complies with all organizational Code of Conduct standards, Policies and Procedures, and Service Excellence (AIDET) requirements with all patients, visitors, employees, and internal/external clients or representatives.
  • Demonstrates at all times a professional attitude and acceptable job performance for all duties, tasks, responsibilities, and assignments for this position at the assigned location and/or duty assignment that supports the operational needs of El Rio Health and as assigned by organizational leadership.
  • Possesses and demonstrates the knowledge, understanding, and skills to complete assigned entry-level clerical duties, tasks, and assignments working with organizational operating systems, programs, and/or business software. Assist other staff members who are serving as informational contact points for organizational operating systems, programs, and/or business software in support of employees and internal/external clients or representatives.
  • Assists with and/or complete entry-level clerical tasks, as assigned or requested, supporting the distribution of reports, summary information, and correspondence to Human Resources staff or other internal/external clients or representatives; as well as assisting with data entry of departmental spreadsheets for effective operational use and reporting.
  • Maintains a clean, safe, and hygienic work environment in compliance with all Policies and Procedures including but not limited to work areas, workstations, examination rooms, hand washing, infection prevention and control etc. for this position.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of and proficiency with the application of all compliance and reporting requirements respective to Joint Commission Certification (JCC) standards.

 

Minimum Education and Experience:

  • Enrolled at an accredited college or university.
  • Candidates must have an overall GPA of 3.00 or better.
  • Must show initiative and creativity in solving unique challenges.
  • Ability to work towards goals on an individual and team level.
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task competing responsibilities.
  • Excellent communication skills – both verbal and written.
  • Proficient in Excel & PowerPoint.

 

If applicable, equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered, and must be directly related to the functions and responsibilities of the job.

Required Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations:

  • Level I fingerprint clearance card: current valid and in good standing or have applied for it within seven working days after beginning employment.
  • Employees in this position are required to have reliable transportation that can meet any operational reassignments of the organization during the workday. If an employee is driving during work hours, the employee is required to possess a valid driver’s license and must comply with Arizona vehicle insurance requirements.

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) with the ability to speak, read and write in both languages.
