Under the supervision of the Senior Vice President Lending/Marketing, you will direct and coordinate activities of employees engaged in consumer lending (consumer loans, credit card, etc.) and Real Estate loans to ensure that the lending operation is conducted in compliance with state and federal regulations, and in accordance with established policies and procedures.

 

Additionally, you will maintain awareness of changes in loan processing, including State & Federal government regulations, technological advancements in artificial intelligence in credit granting, changing consumer needs and preferences, and changes in the demographics of our membership.

 

Responsibilities of the position include:

 

  • Maintain awareness of economic conditions at the national, state and local levels and recommends underwriting and procedural changes accordingly.
  • Identify and implement changes, new procedures, and techniques to enhance procedures and streamline processes with the focus of removing process friction for the member and the branches.
  • Provide staff with an environment conducive to ongoing cross training and encourage staff to recognize opportunities to make improvements in processes.
  • Establish credit limits on accounts based on such standard lending practices and policy as: debt‑to‑income ratio, credit worthiness, collateral, capacity to repay, and character of the borrower.
  • Review collection reports to ascertain status of collections and balances outstanding and to evaluate effectiveness of current underwriting policies and practices.
  • Implement a quality control program to ensure that all policy and legal requirements have been satisfied, exceptions noted and corrected, and maximum efforts have been taken to ensure full compliance on each and every loan account.
  • Plan office practices and procedures, including staffing and functional efficiencies, to ensure member phone calls and member-borrowing requests receive prompt attention and requests for the extension of credit are efficiently processed.

 

Requirements of the position include:

 

  • Thorough knowledge of operations, compliance, policies, products, services, and procedures related to the Credit Union.

 

  • Ability to effectively analyze situations, make sound decisions, and recommend and execute solutions.

 

  • Understanding of risk management principles and how they apply to product and delivery systems.

 

  • Ability to communicate effectively with groups or individual members and employees.

 

  • Ability to write proposals and present them effectively to senior management.

 

  • Familiarity with differences in products and services offered by other financial institutions to those offered by the Credit Union.

 

  • Degree in Credit Management plus at least five years lending experience in a bank, credit union, finance company or savings and loan or the equivalent combination of formal training and experience.

 

The ideal candidate must hold, or qualify to hold, a position of Branch or Back Office Manager or Assistant Manager. 

 

Five years related supervisory experience is required as is a Certification of a Leadership course, or equivalent.
