Human Resources Generalist - Bilingual Spanish

Responsibilities:
- Promote a positive workplace culture by fostering respect, inclusivity, and collaboration among employees.
- Address employee relations issues, including conflicts, grievances, and disciplinary actions, ensuring a fair and harmonious work environment.
- Provide specialized assistance in employee relations for both Union and Non-Union employees, offering support to Departmental and Executive Managers as required.
- Assist in onboarding processes, including orientation, new hire paperwork, welcome tours, and I-9 verifications.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and state, federal, and local laws, providing guidance to managers and employees as needed.
- Facilitate communication between employees and management, addressing grievances, feedback, and concerns in a timely and professional manner.
- Lead investigations into allegations of misconduct, performance issues, or policy violations, ensuring fairness and confidentiality.
- Maintain detailed records of employee conduct, warnings, performance evaluations, and corrective actions to ensure compliance with policies.
- Implement a progressive disciplinary process, consistently addressing performance or behavioral issues in alignment with company standards.
- Manage employee terminations, ensuring compliance with legal requirements, including final paychecks, severance, and related documentation.
- Conduct exit interviews to gather insights into employee departures and use the data to enhance workplace conditions and retention strategies.
- Oversee the company’s leave management process, ensuring compliance with laws such as the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) and other leave policies.
- Assist employees in navigating leave options, providing clear guidance on rights, obligations, and necessary documentation for various leave types.
- Manage workers compensation claims, ensuring effective resolution, compliance with regulations, and support for injured employees.
- Mentor the HR team, ensuring the development of skills and providing the resources needed for team success.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to align HR strategies with business objectives, driving organizational success and ensuring employee satisfaction.
Qualifications:
- 2-3 years of HR experience, with a strong background in employee relations, HR investigations, grievances, and terminations.
- Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Bilingual Spanish required.
- PHR (Professional in Human Resources) certification preferred.
- Proficiency with HRIS and Applicant Tracking Systems for efficient HR management and record keeping.
- Experience in a Union environment is highly preferred, including managing arbitration and compliance with union agreements.
- Strong judgment and decision-making skills, capable of handling complex employee relations issues with diplomacy and tact.
- High ethical standards, with a commitment to confidentiality and fairness in handling sensitive HR matters.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective conflict resolution, relationship building, and providing guidance to employees and management.
- Ability to adapt to a dynamic environment and continuously improve HR practices to align with organizational goals.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Proactive and entrepreneurial mindset, adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
- Highly organized with a strong attention to detail.
- Effective both independently and as part of a team.
