Job Overview:

The Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for ensuring safe, productive, and error-free processes consisting of their assigned production area. Manufacturing Engineering is the leader in problem solving, exploring new technologies and providing engineering support to the plant.

 

 

Primary Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Maintain ownership of assigned production area as assigned.
  • Maintain and adhere to timeline and execute open issues as assigned.
  • Lead and develop assembly processes for serial-life products including but not limited to:
    • Plastic Joinery (vibration, infrastake, ultrasonic, hot-plate welding)
    • Threaded fastener torque tools
    • Error-proofing and MES interactions – being an active leader in problem solving.
    • Electrical Verification Testing
  • Troubleshoot equipment/automation & continuous improvement to meet company objectives of safety, quality, and delivery.
  • Collaborate with Plant personnel, Quality, Controls, Design, and Maintenance Engineering in a team atmosphere to achieve company goals.
  • Collaborate with customers and external design resources, supporting needs through pilot, testing, run-at-rate, and internal process sign offs.
  • Evaluate and Execute change control and feasibility assessment, effectively protecting DMS from scope creep while maintaining error-proofing integrity.
  • Pursue new technology and efficiencies in controls, robotics various other applications, incorporating them into company strategy.
  • Facilitate the implementation of production equipment/tooling into the manufacturing facility and any corresponding technical training.
  • Manage multiple engineering projects that support plant operations as assigned by the manager.
  • Represent DMS in a professional manner with customers and suppliers at all levels of their organization.
  • Understand DMS operations from sub-assembly, final assembly to shipping and receiving.
  • Able to work with and effectively communicate with Management and all operations personnel.

 

 

 

Required Skills/Education/Experience:

    The ideal candidate will have/possess the following skills/qualifications:

  • Bachelors of Science in Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering
  • At least (2) years’ experience in assembly and/or manufacturing and demonstrated success as a strong problem solver.
  • Above average PC skills which would include Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of TS 16949 quality system & ILVS production systems.
  • Firm working knowledge of PLC programming.
  • Firm understanding of PFMEA principles.
  • Ability to present complex information and convey messages in a manner appropriate for different levels of our internal management and our customers.
  • Familiar with entire life cycle program including development, launch and production.
