Position Overview:

 

The Manufacturing Engineering Intern will work with our team on analyzing and improving production processes, supporting equipment maintenance, and assisting with new product introduction (NPI). This role provides practical experience in engineering within a production environment and is ideal for students interested in gaining hands-on skills in manufacturing.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Process Analysis & Improvement: Assist in analyzing existing production processes, identifying areas for improvement, and implementing lean manufacturing techniques to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
  • Production Support: Provide technical support to production teams to troubleshoot issues, optimize workflows, and ensure processes run smoothly.
  • New Product Introduction (NPI): Assist with NPI projects, including preparing work instructions, setting up equipment, and supporting the transition from prototype to full production.
  • Quality Control: Collaborate with the Quality team to monitor product quality, perform root cause analysis for quality issues, and implement corrective actions.
  • Tooling & Equipment Maintenance: Support the maintenance and calibration of manufacturing tools and equipment, ensuring they operate effectively and meet production demands.
  • Documentation: Create and maintain process documentation, including standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and quality checklists.
  • Continuous Improvement Initiatives: Participate in Lean/6-Sigma projects, Kaizen events, and 5S activities to drive operational efficiency.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Follow all safety guidelines and support initiatives to maintain a safe working environment on the manufacturing floor.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of manufacturing processes and production workflows, with a willingness to learn hands-on techniques.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical abilities for troubleshooting and improving manufacturing processes.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous in monitoring production quality, maintaining accurate documentation, and ensuring equipment functionality.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with team members and supervisors.
  • Organizational Skills: Ability to manage multiple tasks, prioritize work effectively, and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is required; experience with CAD or other engineering software is a plus.
  • Lean Manufacturing Knowledge: Basic understanding of Lean and 6-Sigma principles is preferred.
