Position Overview:

 

The Industrial Engineering Intern will support our team in conducting time studies, optimizing workflows, and participating in continuous improvement projects. This role offers a hands-on learning experience in process analysis, project management, and data-driven decision-making, equipping interns with practical skills to succeed in industrial engineering.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Time Studies: Conduct time and motion studies on various production processes to identify bottlenecks, inefficiencies, and areas for improvement.
  • Process Improvement: Assist in analyzing and optimizing production workflows, developing process layouts, and recommending methods to increase productivity and reduce waste.
  • Data Collection & Analysis: Collect and analyze data on production rates, machine performance, and labor utilization to support project decision-making and drive improvements.
  • Lean Manufacturing Support: Support Lean initiatives, including 5S, Kaizen events, and Value Stream Mapping, to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Project Participation: Collaborate with cross-functional teams on continuous improvement projects, working closely with production, quality, and maintenance teams to implement improvements.
  • Documentation: Maintain accurate and detailed records of process changes, including creating standard operating procedures (SOPs) and documenting best practices.
  • Capacity Planning: Assist with capacity analysis to forecast production requirements, ensuring the facility can meet current and future demand.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Follow all safety protocols and contribute to a safe working environment by participating in safety audits and ergonomic assessments.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with the capability to interpret data and develop actionable recommendations.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail in conducting time studies, creating documentation, and evaluating processes.
  • Technical Skills: Familiarity with engineering tools and software, such as CAD (AutoCAD), Excel, and any simulation software is a plus.
  • Communication Skills: Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with team members at all levels.
  • Project Management: Basic knowledge of project management principles, with the ability to manage tasks, prioritize, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office: Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel for data analysis and reporting.
  • Knowledge of Lean Principles: Familiarity with Lean manufacturing concepts and continuous improvement techniques is preferred.
