Position Overview:
The Purchasing Intern will assist the Purchasing team in managing procurement activities, supporting supplier relations, and optimizing procurement processes. This role provides an opportunity to gain practical experience in purchasing, supplier management, and procurement operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supplier Support: Assist in managing supplier relationships, including communication, order tracking, and resolving any issues related to supply and delivery.
- Order Processing: Help process purchase orders, including creating, tracking, and updating orders to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment.
- Data Analysis: Support the analysis of purchasing data, including spend analysis, supplier performance metrics, and inventory levels to inform decision-making and identify opportunities for cost savings.
- Documentation: Assist in maintaining purchasing documentation, including purchase orders, contracts, and supplier agreements.
- Market Research: Conduct market research to identify potential suppliers, gather pricing information, and support competitive sourcing initiatives.
- Process Improvement: Contribute to the evaluation of procurement processes and provide recommendations for improvements based on observations and feedback.
- Reporting: Assist in preparing reports and presentations related to purchasing activities, including spend reports, supplier performance evaluations, and procurement metrics.
- Administrative Support: Provide general administrative support to the Purchasing team, including scheduling meetings, preparing correspondence, and organizing files.
Qualifications:
- Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Procurement, or a related field.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data, identify trends, and make data-driven recommendations.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail in processing orders, maintaining documentation, and analyzing data.
- Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact professionally with suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
- Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with procurement software or ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle) is a plus.
- Problem-Solving: Effective problem-solving skills with a proactive approach to addressing procurement challenges and improving processes.
