Position Overview:

The Product Engineering Intern will work closely with our Product Engineers, assisting in everyday tasks such as creating Bills of Materials (BOMs), reviewing products, supporting production lines, helping achieve Advanced Product Quality Planning (AAR), and reviewing dimensional data. The intern will also assist Tooling Engineers by following up on tools, helping with tool runs, and possibly contributing to 3D printing projects. This role offers a comprehensive experience in product and tooling engineering within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • BOM Creation: Assist in creating and maintaining accurate Bills of Materials (BOMs) for new and existing products.
  • Product Review: Participate in product reviews to ensure that products meet design specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements.
  • Production Support: Provide support to the production lines by troubleshooting issues, implementing improvements, and ensuring efficient operations.
  • AAR Achievement: Assist in the process of achieving Advanced Product Quality Planning (AAR) objectives by supporting product and process validation activities.
  • Dimensional Review: Review and analyze dimensional data to ensure that products meet required tolerances and specifications.
  • Tooling Support: Work with Tooling Engineers to follow up on tooling projects, assist with tool runs, and ensure that tools meet production needs.
  • 3D Printing Assistance: Support 3D printing projects, including setting up printers, preparing files, and conducting post-print analysis.
  • Documentation: Help maintain and update engineering documentation, including drawings, specifications, and process sheets.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with other departments such as Quality, Production, and R&D to support product development and manufacturing processes.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Basic understanding of product development, manufacturing processes, and tooling engineering.
  • CAD Proficiency: Experience with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) is a plus.
  • Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret technical data, solve problems, and make data-driven decisions.
  • Communication Skills: Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail in creating BOMs, reviewing products, and ensuring compliance with specifications.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint); experience with 3D printing and related software is a plus.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with engineers, production staff, and other departments.
