Position Overview:
The Plant Quality Intern will be responsible for gathering and analyzing information to assist the plant in its continuous improvement initiatives. This role requires a strong understanding of AIAG Automotive Standards, including APQP, PPAP, Control Plan, PFMEA, and MSA. The intern will also utilize tools such as Excel, Minitab, and AutoCAD to support quality improvement projects and ensure adherence to quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Data Gathering: Collect and organize data from various sources within the plant to identify trends, issues, and opportunities for improvement.
- Data Analysis: Utilize statistical software such as Minitab and Excel to analyze data, identify root causes of quality issues, and recommend corrective actions.
- AIAG Standards: Apply knowledge of AIAG Automotive Standards (APQP, PPAP, Control Plan, PFMEA, MSA) in daily tasks to support the plant’s quality assurance processes.
- Continuous Improvement: Contribute to continuous improvement projects by providing data-driven insights and supporting the implementation of improvement initiatives.
- Documentation: Assist in creating and maintaining documentation related to quality processes, including control plans, PFMEAs, and MSA studies.
- AutoCAD: Use AutoCAD to create or modify drawings as needed to support quality engineering projects.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with other departments, including Production, Engineering, and Maintenance, to ensure that quality standards are met throughout the manufacturing process.
- Reporting: Prepare and present reports on quality metrics, continuous improvement projects, and compliance with industry standards to management.
Qualifications:
- Education: Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Quality Engineering, or a related field.
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of AIAG Automotive Standards (APQP, PPAP, Control Plan, PFMEA, MSA) and their application in a manufacturing environment.
- Software Proficiency: Proficiency in Excel, Minitab, and AutoCAD; experience with other statistical analysis tools is a plus.
- Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and develop actionable insights.
- Attention to Detail: Meticulous attention to detail in gathering and analyzing data, creating documentation, and ensuring compliance with quality standards.
- Communication Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to effectively present findings and recommendations to management.
- Organizational Skills: Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Team Collaboration: Ability to work effectively as part of a team, collaborating with engineers, production staff, and other departments to achieve quality goals.
