Position Overview:

 

The Mechanical Engineering Technician Intern will support the engineering team in various aspects of product development, testing, and manufacturing. This role provides a unique opportunity to gain practical experience in mechanical engineering, working on real-world projects that impact the performance and safety of automotive components.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Prototyping and Assembly: Assist in the assembly, modification, and testing of mechanical prototypes, ensuring they meet design specifications and performance criteria.
  • Testing and Validation: Conduct mechanical testing and validation of components, including stress testing, durability testing, and vibration analysis, and document results.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Gather and analyze data from tests and experiments, using tools such as digital calipers, micrometers, and other precision instruments.
  • Troubleshooting: Assist in diagnosing issues with mechanical components and systems, working with engineers to identify root causes and recommend solutions.
  • Process Improvement: Collaborate with engineers to develop and implement process improvements aimed at enhancing manufacturing efficiency and product quality.
  • Technical Documentation: Prepare and maintain technical documentation, including test reports, work instructions, and assembly guides.
  • Tooling and Equipment: Assist in the design, fabrication, and maintenance of jigs, fixtures, and other tools used in the manufacturing process.
  • Cross-Functional Support: Work with cross-functional teams, including design, quality, and manufacturing, to support product development and production activities.
  • Safety and Compliance: Adhere to safety protocols and standards, ensuring that all work is performed in compliance with industry regulations and company policies.

 

Qualifications:

 

  • Education: Currently pursuing an Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Technical Skills: Basic knowledge of mechanical systems, manufacturing processes, and engineering tools. Familiarity with CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD) is a plus.
  • Hands-On Experience: Experience with mechanical assembly, machining, or testing is preferred.
  • Analytical Abilities: Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret test data and make recommendations based on findings.
  • Problem-Solving: Ability to troubleshoot and solve technical problems in a methodical and efficient manner.
  • Communication: Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to document and present technical information clearly.
  • Teamwork: Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment, collaborating with engineers, technicians, and other departments.
  • Attention to Detail: Strong attention to detail, ensuring accuracy and precision in all tasks.
