Job Overview:

One of the many important roles of a Quality Engineer is to hold employees accountable for safety awareness and adherence to proper safety procedures as outlined. They are also in charge of meeting or exceeding targets for concerns to the customer as well as reducing the number of repeat concerns by implementing robust Permanent Corrective Actions. They also work jointly with the SQE’s to get them what they need on behalf of the supply base.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate the creation of AIAG APQP documentation for new program launches.
  • Ensure targeted suppliers follow and meet the required APQP processes and have TS 16949 based systems
  • Ensure each supplier proactively meets the contract requirements in terms of shipping, delivery, labeling, product quality and engineering change coordination
  • Verify and validate suppliers implement irreversible corrective actions for each identified supplier responsible process/product failure mode.
  • Monitor supplier continuous improvement activity.
  • Develop PPAP/PSO package for customer review.
  • Issue and/or follow-up on Formal Customer Corrective Actions
  • Identify and recover all costs associated with quality problems
  • Visit supplier and customer assembly plants as required
  • Participate in supplier orientations
  • Communicate with the customer supplier quality engineers
  • Manage supplier PPAP and Run @ Rate activity
  • Perform local plant Control Plan audits

 

 

Requirements:

 The ideal candidate will possess the following skills/qualifications:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Experience in AIAG APQP Processes
  • At least five years’ experience and demonstrated success as a person who solves problems in a manufacturing operation in the automotive field).
  • A demonstrated record of getting things done
  • All or most work experience in the automotive industry
  • Experience in fast pace assembly
  • Creative manufacturing problem solver
  • Ability to resolve complex issues
  • TS 16949 quality system, APQP, PPAP, etc.
  • Ability to effectively interact with and lead people
  • Lean manufacturing methods
  • Above average PC skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
