Job Overview:
Launch Supervisor executes the new program build and trial processes through the supervision of the launch builders. With plant, Program, and DMS launch technician team support, DMS’ Supervisor ensures 100% of all preproduction builds are supported sufficiently or otherwise escalated. The supervisor is expected to support all launch build objectives (KPI’s like Safety, Quality (AIM’s/QR’s), downtime, on time delivery, while supporting operations training, support serial life handoff and minimize negative impact to serial life production. Additionally, demonstrating GIFTED & RICH principles while supporting departmental objectives like continuous improvement ideas (departmental and organizationally), initiate and support: VA/VE’s/cost savings ideas, innovation ideas, semiannual charity events and semiannual participation in FUN.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
- Manages program prototype builds (GPIRS and preproduction orders).
- Communicates to coordinate the red borders schedule for all GPIRs orders to Launch Team.
- Delivery of red boarder commitments DMS-F-DSS 2603 shipper process with Ford-Penske services.
- Kit, build, validate all pre-production builds.
- Supporting OKTS and rework as required.
- Coordinates prototype material receiving and storage to support customer GPIRs production schedules.
- Tracks, escalate and support material shortages/ overage to released BOM/VBOM.
- Manages all expediting issues; investigates and assists to develop process changes required to eliminate root cause. Follows PC&L process DMS-I-PSS-1114
- Manages launch prototype inventory to optimize consumption and minimize excess / obsolescence for new program early builds (DCV, PV, TT, PP, MP1 and SOP).
- Provides feedback to the teams on potential prototype build issues using the PDCA DMS-F-LSS-0216 process.
- Support SAP closure of GPIRS orders.
- Provides input to Finance Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable, with daily Customer invoicing / reconciliation process.
- Participate in daily top 5 launch team meetings, developing input to documentation of build plans and actions. Works to ensure program requirements and upgrades are supported.
- Supervisor of 5LT + Temporary LT’s:
- Conducts the daily Launch builders Top 5 meeting to schedule build activities.
- Develop prototype daily build plans for launch builders.
- Train LT’s and support writing prototype SWI’s.
- Maintain the Launch builder timecards.
- Complete semiannual IDP’s for LT.
- Drive accountability and discipline in LT’s.
- Change agent and active problem solver.
Other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Education/Experience:
The ideal candidate will have/possess the following skills/qualifications:
- Bachelor’s/associate’s degree preferred in one of the following areas: Engineering, Supply Chain Management, Finance or Business Administration or, equivalent work experience or combination of advanced schooling and work experience.
- Having 5+ years manufacturing supervisory experience and demonstrated success in Production Operations, Launch Management / Logistics
- Able to perform in a fast-paced environment where change is common.
- Ability to effectively interact with, and lead people.
- Experience with MRP systems (SAP preferred).
- Experience with formal problems solving techniques (5Y, 8D, Fishbone/Ishikawa Diagrams).
- Experience with conflict management.
- Intermediate to advanced proficiency of Microsoft Office Suite Systems Experience.
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Working knowledge of DMS SRM process.
- Working knowledge of TS16949 quality system / DMS MOS.
- Working knowledge of Dayforce.
- Working knowledge of SAP.
- Lean Six Sigma training.
