Job Overview:

As an Advanced Industrial Engineer at DMS, you will play a pivotal role in the integration of new automotive products into the manufacturing process. This position demands a blend of technical prowess in industrial engineering, a deep understanding of automotive manufacturing, lean production, and assembly process balancing skills. Your responsibilities will include designing and optimizing manufacturing processes, equipment layouts, and workflows to ensure efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and high-quality production standards are met in preparation for product launches.

 

Primary Accountabilities and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Program Management, Systems Engineering, Advanced Manufacturing, Quality, and Production to integrate new products into the manufacturing environment.
  • Participate in the conceptualization, design and implementation of efficient layouts of equipment, workflow, assembly methods, and work force utilization.
  • Conceptualize, evaluate, and improve manufacturing methods, utilizing knowledge of product design, materials, fabrication processes, tooling, and production equipment capabilities.
  • Support new business development proposals with industrialization inputs
  • Familiar with manufacturing operations sequencing techniques for optimization of manufacturing and assembly line processes.
  • Conduct time and motion studies to establish standard production rates and improve efficiency. Actively manage this data via lean production software such as AVIX.
  • Participate in the selection, procurement, and commissioning of new manufacturing equipment.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of process control plans, operating procedures, and quality standards to ensure product compliance and safety.
  • Analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow, and design layouts for maximum efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities for continuous improvement and lead Kaizen/Lean Manufacturing initiatives.
  • Prepare detailed reports and presentations on pre-launch activities, progress, and challenges for management review.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, environmental policies, and occupational health and safety regulations.
  • Familiar with manufacturing operations sequencing techniques for optimization of manufacturing and assembly line processes.

 

Required Skills/Education/Experience:

The ideal candidate will have/possess the following skills/qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have/be:

  • Education or Experience:  Degree in Mechanical Engineering/Manufacturing Engineering as well as Industrial Engineering or Job experience as a Manufacturing Engineer and Industrial Engineer.
  • Strong understanding of automotive manufacturing processes, lean manufacturing principles, and quality control systems.
  • Proficiency in lean production and assembly balancing software and industrial engineering tools (e.g., time study, process mapping, layout design).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a keen attention to detail.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of ISO/TS quality standards and experience with ERP systems is preferred.
  • Ability to adapt to rapidly changing environments and manage multiple priorities.
