POSITION SUMMARY - Functions as a liaison between quality, engineering, manufacturing and suppliers to resolve supplier quality issues and to provide technical support and manage supplier performance. WORK ENVIRONMENT - Must be willing and able to work in an environment exposed to elements that can include but are not limited to coolant, dust, mist, elevated noise, and uncontrolled temperatures. Must be willing to travel.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Conduct audits of supplier manufacturing processes and quality systems
  • Monitor supplier performance
  • Understand applicable engineering & manufacturing specifications
  • Ensure & monitor supplier understanding of product and submission requirements
  • Ensure outsourced components, materials, and parts are received in a defect-free state
  • Monitor incoming outsourced materials for nonconformances
  • Possess the ability & confidence to stop production and/or prevent shipment of products due to production nonconformances or potential non-conforming products to prevent delivery to end-customers
  • Determine root cause of supplier quality concerns and coordinate & implement effective and timely corrective actions
  • Approve outsourced components for use in production (PPAP)
  • Review and approve supplier quality plans on new product programs
  • Support IATF 16949:2016 certification requirements and subsequent third-party audits
  • Understand, monitor, and meet all other customer-specific requirements
  • Maintain required documentation and files
  • Support Dee Zee’s environmental policy with proactive process implementation, improvement suggestions, active waste reduction, and actions taken to support environmental performance results and findings


SKILLS & ABILITIES

  • Highly analytical with ability to assess and identify appropriate alternative courses of action for definition and resolution of unique and diverse problems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of basic manufacturing quality practices
  • Experience with IATF 16949:2016 and customer-specific requirements (specifically PPAP, CQI, IMDS, and Change Order Processes)
  • Experience with AIAG Core Tools (specifically APQP, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plan, and Process Flow)
  • Experience with statistical measurement analyses (specifically CMM, MSA, R&R, and Cpk)
  • Ability to investigate quality issues using root cause analysis tools and to systemically resolve issues through the corrective action and verification of effectiveness processes
  • Knowledge of manufacturing auditing practices and principles
  • Willingness to travel up to 40% of working time, often overnight and for multiple days

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering preferred or commensurate experience
Experience: Four years of experience in manufacturing, quality, or engineering preferred

Computer Skills:  Must demonstrate computer literacy; proficient in using Microsoft Office; experience with Solid Works, CAD (Step Files), and CMM programming; able to understand & utilize vendor and customer software programs

Certificates & Licenses: Professional certification through the American Society for Quality (ASQ) preferred; must be complete IATF 16949:2016 Lead Auditor Training (if not already certified) upon hire

Other Requirements: Six Sigma Training preferred
