CMM Technician, 1st Shift

POSITION SUMMARY — Validate that components and product meet established standards and requirements by performing measurements and analysis of results. Responsible for the execution of tasks to ensure our products meet or exceed specified quality standards. Will also prepare programs for new and existing parts on the CMMs using PolyWorks software. WORK ENVIRONMENT — Must be willing and able to work in an environment exposed to elements that can include but are not limited to coolant, dust, mist, elevated noise, and uncontrolled temperatures.
 
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Operate and program various CMM’s 
  • Mount, install, align, and secure tools, attachments, fixtures, and work pieces on CMM machine using hand tools and precision measuring instruments
  • Read CMM reports and analyze data 
  • Provide accurate and precise in measurements as presented to the customer for sample layouts and to production for first piece and dimensional checks
  • Use micrometers, calipers, depth micrometers and various other hand tools
  • Analyze and understand GD&T Drawings
  • Assist the production team in collecting and analyzing data for measurement systems analysis, capability studies, design of experiments, gauge R&R, etc.
  • Identify and handle non-conforming products
  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with 6S procedures, rules, and regulations 
  • Ability to stop the production line and/or prevent shipment of products due to nonconformance or potential nonconformance products to our customers
  • Support the environmental policy with proactive process implementation, improvement suggestions, reducing waste, and acting on environment performance results and findings
SKILLS & ABILITIES
  • Familiarity with SPC concepts and applications 
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines
  • Strong computer skills
  • Ability to adapt to change in the workplace 
  • Ability to use thinking and reasoning to solve a problem 
  • Ability to pay attention to the minute details of a project or task 
  • Experience with GD&T and basic understanding of how to read GD&T drawings
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS 
Education: High School Graduate, GED, or HSDE preferred
Experience: One-year related experience; Prior CMM Programming preferred
Computer Skills:  Must demonstrate computer literacy
