POSITION SUMMARY – Drive semis to and from all Dee Zee facilities to transport finished and raw goods and any other transportation needs that would require a CDL class driver. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable qualified individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.
WORK ENVIRONMENT — Must be willing and able to work in an environment exposed to elements that can include but are not limited to coolant, dust, mist, elevated noise, and uncontrolled temperatures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Drive semi, straight truck, flatbed
- Transport mail bags
- Communicate with management, forklift drivers, and production/warehouse employees
- Drive forklift to help load and unload as needed
- Report defects, damages, accidents, and/or violations
- Meet delivery schedules
- Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions
- Perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections
- Adhere to laws on commercial vehicle operation as per state, federal, and local authorities
- Ability to stop the production line and/or prevent shipment of products due to nonconformance or potential nonconformance products to our customers
- Support the environmental policy with proactive process implementation, improvement suggestions, reducing waste, and acting on environment performance results and findings
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to properly secure a load
- Knowledge of applicable truck driving rules and regulations DOT
- Foresight to handle unexpected situations such as weather and traffic
- Appropriately interact with outside customers and vendors
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Effectively communicate
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Diploma, GED, or HSDE preferred
Experience: One year of related experience preferred
Computer Skills: Must demonstrate computer literacy; Proficient in MS Office
Certificates & Licenses: Valid Driver’s License CDL Class A required; Must pass and maintain written and driving test for forklift certification
Other Requirements: Maintain a clean driving record; Pass DOT physical and random selection drug testing
