POSITION SUMMARY – Prepare and paint or apply lining onto OEM products such as Side Step Assists and various aftermarket parts according to work instructions, using spray guns and other equipment to ensure high quality finish and appearance for our OEM and Aftermarket customers. WORK ENVIRONMENT — Must be willing and able to work in an environment exposed to elements that can include but are not limited to coolant, dust, mist, elevated noise, and uncontrolled temperatures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Operate spray guns, positioning parts and gun to direct spray coating onto parts
- Monitor painting operations to identify flaws, verify correct color, texture, and quality specifications per customer or company requirements and perform corrective actions to correct flaws
- Sand and repaint surfaces per re-work specifications
- Apply specified amount or thickness of materials using spray equipment
- Maintain system to achieve optimum performance by providing daily inspection and cleaning parts before loading onto line; Set up and operate painting equipment to coat products and disassemble, clean, replace mixing chamber, tip, side blocks on spray gun
- Adjust application guns and tips accordingly to optimize coating coverage
- Perform necessary testing to assure quality of parts in an environmentally safe state and maintain records
- Understand, maintain, and operate mechanical functions of equipment in application area
- Ability to stop the production line and/or prevent shipment of products due to nonconformance or potential nonconformance products to our customers
- Support the environmental policy with proactive process implementation, improvement suggestions, reducing waste, and acting on environment performance results and findings
SKILLS & ABILITIES
- Ability to read and comprehend work instructions, blueprints, and control plan
- Ability to set up the paint guns and system to obtain the proper paint coverage on parts
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Ability to run all paint equipment necessary
- Quality driven and have good housekeeping habits
- Knowledge of how to check mill thickness with a mill gauge meter
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education: High School Graduate, GED, or HSDE preferred
Experience: One-year related coating/painting experience preferred
Computer Skills: Must demonstrate computer literacy
Certificates & Licenses:
Other Requirements: Must be fitted for a respirator and pass a Pulmonary Function Test (PFT); Will use company supplied SAR helmet while in booth
