Software Development Intern - Summer '25
POSITION SUMMARY— Analyze, design, develop, test, document, and implement new or existing software to meet ongoing software development needs. Ability to assist with integration between various business systems and provide in-depth technical and business knowledge to handle complex issues. Ensure software meets business requirements, follows development standards, and maintains data integrity. Follow established processes for the software development life cycle with a customer focus on delivering software and system solutions. Exhibit strong communication skills with a passion for customer support in interacting with product owners and acts with a sense of urgency when warranted. WORK ENVIRONMENT— Must be willing and able to work in an environment exposed to elements that can include but are not limited to coolant, dust, mist, elevated noise, and uncontrolled temperatures.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
- Designs, codes, tests, debugs, documents, and implements changes to new and existing software applications using C#.Net, VB.NET, MVC, ASP.NET, T-SQL, SSRS, SSIS, Batch Script, Entity Framework, CSS, Bootstrap, JavaScript, jQuery, JSON, Web API as well as other technologies as needed
- Create, maintain, and modify SQL server databases, indexes, jobs, and security
- Conduct thorough testing of programs and software applications to be sure they will produce the desired results and that the requirements were met
- Manage code within source control (Azure DevOps) to ensure data integrity and recoverability
- Perform modifications, bug fixes, and enhancements of existing programs to increase operating efficiency or adapt to new requirements
- Ability to search the Internet to find solutions to technical problems
- Consult with managerial, engineering, technical personnel, and end users to clarify program intent, identify problems, and recommend improvements
- Perform impact analysis to assess risk when making code changes to integrated business systems
- Concisely and accurately document technical and business processes and self-document code to clearly state its intent to other developers
- Prepare detailed flow charts and mockups that translate complex technical workflows into a format that is easily understood by end users and convert them into a computer program
- Consult with and assist customers to define and resolve problems in computer programs
- Develop applications that interface with SQL Server databases and develop SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) labels and reports
- Write instructions or manuals to guide end users
- Ability to assess a business problem and provide accurate time estimates
- Availability for after-hours support on an as needed or rotating basis
- Other duties as assigned

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Current enrollment in Bachelor’s Degree; any technical schooling would be an advantage
Experience: Software development experience in C#, VB.NET, and T-SQL preferred; experience in a manufacturing environment and supporting ERP systems would be an advantage. Experience working in an agile environment is a plus.
Computer Skills: Must demonstrate computer literacy; experience with and understanding of Microsoft Visual Studio using C# and VB.NET, MVC, ASP.Net, Azure DevOps, Web Services, Git source control, T-SQL, relational databases (Microsoft SQL Server), Microsoft SSMS, SSRS and SSIS, ERP software, mobile device (barcode scanners) development, warehouse management systems, Clippership/Kewill Integration, Microsoft Office, and Fourth Shift. Knowledge of CSS, Bootstrap, Entity Framework, Dapper, Web API, jQuery, JSON, SignalR, Electronic Data Interchange (EDI), Adobe Photoshop, and Paint.NET is a plus.
