Business Development Manager - North Africa

As a Business Development Manager – North Africa, you will be responsible for driving the sale of MECS products, and Sulfuric Acid Technologies’ including Catalysts for Sulfuric Acid Plants in Fertilizer, Metallurgical, and Oil Refineries; Mist Eliminators in various chemical industries; and Alloy Products within the Sulfuric Acid industry. This position will be the primary BDM to our clients in Northern Africa. Maintaining strong relationships with local consultants’ partners for new plant sales and collaborating with the MECS offices in Belgium and the US to support proposal-making and order execution. This role requires taking ownership of your work and making informed decisions, with the necessary authority provided to carry out the job effectively.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES & ACTIVITIES
The Business Development Manager will:
- Develop high-level relationships with the most senior levels of management of Elessent Clients.
- Develop competitive intelligence that allows Elessent to have a competitive edge within the market.
- Develop with the MECS team technical and commercial proposals.
- Responsible for sales of MECS product (Catalyst) in Sulfuric Acid Plants linked to Fertilizer Plants and (Alloy Products) in the Sulfuric Acid industry.
- Responsible for maintaining relationships with local consultants for product sales in new plants.
- Provide necessary information and details to the design and project department for proposal making and order execution.
- Coordinate with Europe and US offices for sales-related requirements.
- Interact with people in other MECS entities across the globe, effectively for sales-related activities. Especially the Technical Service team.
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
The ideal candidate will have at least 10-15 years of professional experience in Business Development and Sales involved with the Sulfuric Acid industry and relevant industries. The individual must work effectively in a collaborative, team-based environment and be an exceptional communicator with the ability to influence without authority to ensure that corporate goals are achieved.
Other skills and experience should include:
- Strong communication skills to direct and manage relationships with customers, business development managers, and internal teams.
- Familiarity with the technology environment, and knowledge of sulfuric acid processes.
- Strong analytical ability to understand and communicate product benefits effectively and selling based on technical merits rather than price alone.
- Possesses a can-do attitude with a strong focus on understanding and predicting customer needs.
- Time management and task prioritization required to manage multiple projects at once.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English and Arabic.
EXPERIENCE PREFERRED
- Has worked for in the sulfuric acid, phosphoric acid, and/or phosphate fertilizer industries
- Previous experience in a multinational company will be an added advantage.
- Understanding of Moroccan Culture
- Speaks French
EDUCATION
- Chemical or Mechanical Engineer graduate from a reputed institute.
- MBA will be an added advantage.
