Supportive housing - affordable housing paired with services designed to help people maintain their homes for the long-term - is widely recognized as a proven and cost-effective solution to chronic homelessness.
But we didn't stop at providing housing. Breaking Ground's programs and services help people experiencing street homelessness - especially those who have been on the streets the longest - to come indoors. Through our Street to Home outreach program and transitional housing resources, we help people get, and stay, on the path to a permanent home.
The Government Contract Compliance and Data Strategy department is responsible for ensuring the agency’s compliance with government contracts, and overseeing Breaking Ground’s data collection and analytics, and quality assurance efforts. This department plays an integral role in Breaking Ground’s overall mission by ensuring that our work is data informed, high quality, and meets contract and regulatory compliance standards.
Reporting to the Director, Software Engineering the Software Engineer is the primary point person for maintaining functionality and improving the user experience of web-based database applications. The Engineer is involved in converting access applications to web-based applications. The Engineer is part of the Data Services team, which works closely to increase meaningful use of data at Breaking Ground.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Serve as internal point person for database related issues and questions
- Develop new web-based applications
- Oversee table and field configuration, data system changes, API implementations
- Assist data team with query optimization
- Manage data conversion portion of data modernization
- Run regular reports of data to check for quality
- Contributes to data services efforts and initiatives
- Work with external database consultants when needed
- Perform other duties as assigned
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience building and maintaining web applications. Experience with enterprise Access database development and maintenance
- Proficiency in C# (for web applications), JavaScript (for frontend), Python, SQL, SQL Server, ASP.NET MVC Web Framework, Git Version Control required
- Visual Basic for Applications a plus (for older access applications)
- A problem solver, comfortable working in under-resourced settings, with diversity of tasks; team player
