But we didn't stop at providing housing. Breaking Ground's programs and services help people experiencing street homelessness - especially those who have been on the streets the longest - to come indoors. Through our Street to Home outreach program and transitional housing resources, we help people get, and stay, on the path to a permanent home.

Located in the Bronx, Park House offers 248 units of permanent supportive housing to low-income New Yorkers, and chronically homeless individuals, including individuals with mental illness. Breaking Ground coordinates property management services.

Reporting to the Assistant Program Director, the Tenant Resources Specialist is responsible for providing direct services to tenants who are referred for services at the Park House Hub located at Breaking Ground’s 248-unit affordable housing project for families in the Bronx Tenants are referred through self-referral, staff referral, or active tenant outreach) focusing on sustaining housing and improving overall health and well-being.  

This position has a 35-hour work week. 

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:  

  • Provide direct service to tenants referred for services at the Park House Hub in both individual and group settings, including individual needs assessment; information and referral services, including connection to benefits, health care, substance use treatment, employment, job training, etc.; and very short-term, solutions-focused case management
  • Partner with the Assistant Director to conduct Park House needs-assessments and provide intensive outreach to building tenants to inform them of available services and encourage service utilization 
  • Help develop programming and events that are responsive to identified needs and host and engage tenants in programming (e.g., groups) and events (at least 15 per year). 
  • Collaborate with the Assistant Director and Park House Property Management staff to arrange for more intensive services for clients with rental arrears or other issues in the building 
  • Partner with Tenant and Aging Services team to develop resources and referral networks
  • Document service delivery and outcomes in recordkeeping system timely 
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience 
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, including without constant onsite supervisory presence Excellent time management skills
  • Experience working with homeless and substance-using populations strongly preferred
  • CPR and First Aid certifications preferred
  • Exceptional oral and written communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite programs including Word, Excel, Outlook, and Microsoft Teams
  • Experience with Foothold Technology (A.W.A.R.D.S.) software preferred
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Valid NY or NJ driver’s license with a good driving record, as defined by Breaking Ground is preferred
