Endowment Accountant
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Endowment Accountant is responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual accounting related to the school’s $500+ million endowment, the underlying investment portfolio, financial modelling the annual endowment distribution, forecasting various distribution scenarios, monthly recording of gifts and other projects as assigned.
The Endowment Accountant serves as a key liaison between the Business Office and departments throughout the school to resolve issues and answer questions regarding specific gift and endowment funds. The successful candidate is exceptionally well organized and action oriented, a data driven, skilled analyst, excellent listener and thoughtful communicator. The person is also responsible for evaluating and recommending appropriate endowment accounting treatment in accordance with GAAP and UPMIFA including but not limited to review of gift agreements, preparing data for the investment footnotes in the annual financial statements, preparing and reviewing journal entries, monthly investment and gift reconciliations. This position is also responsible for updating the Endowment Solutions endowment system and certain Project Accounting funds in Veracross.
The position will be filled at a level and salary commensurate with the applicant's qualifications and experience.

REQUIREMENTS: A bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent business experience is required, a Certified Public Accountant licensure is preferred, and prior experience in a not-for-profit environment is desirable. Three years or more of relevant experience in one of the following or closely related fields: gift and endowment accounting and management, audit and compliance, or higher education. Must have effective written and verbal communication skills, exceptional interpersonal skills, highly organized, high-level computer proficiency with database input and custom report generation capabilities, and high competency with Excel, Word, and related software.
