The Finance Analyst will be responsible for maintaining and analyzing both historical and current financial data to assess the financial health of CSBS. Conducting financial forecasting and performing variance and reconciliation analyses. Additionally, the analyst will utilize advanced forecasting tools to automate data analysis, evaluate capital expenditures, and develop predictive financial models to aid in strategic decision-making. This position also requires the analysis of financial processes to identify and implement improvements, participation in the annual budgeting process, establishing financial benchmarks, and monitoring financial metrics to notify stakeholders of critical deviations. The analyst will also keep abreast of industry trends to enhance financial forecasting accuracy.

  • Analyze historical and current financial data to understand CSBS’s financial status.
  • Perform financial forecasting, variance analysis of actual versus forecast, and reconciliation of internal accounts.
  • Utilize forecasting tools to automate financial data analysis.
  • Evaluate capital expenditures, depreciation, and amortization.
  • Maintain predictive financial models to support organizational decision-making.
  • Analyze processes to identify gaps that can improve financials.
  • Participate in the annual budget process.
  • Establish benchmarks for financial processes.
  • Track current financial data to alert management in case of deviation.
  • Study industry-specific research and available data to predict trends.
  • Create financial reports that enable management teams to make strategic decisions to meet business goals.
  • Obtain knowledge of invoicing functionality in all NMLS related systems.
  • Manage business stream related invoice renewals, review and validate system reports, and create related invoices.

 

Minimum Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual should possess the knowledge, skills, and abilities listed and meet the amount of education, training and/or work experience required.

Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably with a major in finance, economics or accounting.
  • 5-7 years proven experience working as a financial analyst.
  • Certified Public Accountant (CPA), preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Financial Accounting: Deep understanding of financial principles and practices, including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Financial Analysis: Expertise in analyzing financial data to detect trends, forecast future performance, and assess financial health.
  • Data Analysis Tools: Proficiency in financial forecasting and analysis tools such as Excel, SAP, Oracle, or specialized financial modeling software.
  • Budgeting: Understanding of budget preparation, analysis, and management.
  • Economic and Industry Trends: Awareness of the economic and industry-specific trends that can influence financial forecasting and strategic planning.

Requirements

  • Due to the nature of CSBS’s business in support of state financial services supervision, all CSBS employees have the potential of interacting with confidential information related to the supervision of financial services companies (“Confidential Supervisory Information”).
