In support of this goal, we are looking for an Eye Recovery Technician to join our team at San Antonio site.

What does an Eye Recovery Technician do?

The Eye Recovery Technician plays a vital role in ensuring that the gift of donation is honored through the timely and thoughtful procurement of ocular tissues for corneal transplant. Specific responsibilities are noted below.

Tissue Recovery:

  • Surgically procure donated human ocular tissue from all sources following Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Drawing blood from donors and recover medical records from hospitals.
  • Accepting on-call responsibilities for ocular tissue recovery as scheduled.

Laboratory Support and Maintenance:

  • Performing other duties as needed or assigned in lab maintenance, quality control, training, and research.
  • Documentation and Record Keeping:
    • Maintaining documentation of in-process tissue as required, and timely updating records at each step in the process.
    • Maintaining confidentiality of donor related information.


What else should I know about this position?

This is an hourly, per-diem position, scheduled for a minimum of 1-2 shifts/week; the weekly schedule will likely include weekends. Due to the nature of this work, this position is 100% in-person – remote work is not available for this role.


What if I’ve never done this type of work before?

Not a problem! We will provide on-the-job training to give you the skills and knowledge needed to become an Eye Recovery Technician! All we ask of you is that:

  • Associate degree or an equivalent combination of education and highly relevant experience required
  • Your previous work experience demonstrates that you can collaborate with others on a team, have a strong attention to detail, and can communicate effectively (written, verbal, etc.) within a professional work environment.
  • Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and confidentiality.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in compliance with Standard Operating Procedures.


What compensation and benefits do you offer?

The minimum wage for this position is $18.00 hourly and the maximum wage is $20.00 hourly. Individual compensation will vary within this range based on a candidate’s skills, qualifications, and experience as they relate to the requirements for this position.
