Tissue Processing Technologist I

Primary Purpose:
Perform routine cornea tissue pre-cutting for research and transplant and assist in distribution of pre-cut tissue to local, national, and international surgeons and to other eye banks.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Perform routine pre-cutting cornea tissue dissection for research and transplant.
- Provide assistance to processor during pre-cutting of tissue.
- Perform precise specular evaluation of routine transplant and pre-cut donor tissue.
- Ensure all applicable FDA, EBAA, CorneaGen and state regulatory policies are followed.
- Assist in distribution of pre-cut tissue to local, national, and international surgeons and to other eye banks.
- Implement research projects involving pre-cut tissue under direction of the Clinical Operations leadership and Medical Directors.
- Gather and assist in the analysis of data related to the pre-cut procedure, process and distribution.
- Work with CorneaGen distribution staff, and other distribution organizations to efficiently and accurately provide tissue for pre-cut needs or routine transplant needs in a timely manner.
- Assist distribution staff in managing relationships with local, national, and international surgeons and other key contacts.
- Perform other projects and duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Knowledge/Abilities:
- Ability to work long hours, nights, and weekends when needed.

Education and/or Equivalent Experience:
- High School or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s Degree in related field preferred
- Laboratory, Ophthalmology, or eye banking experience preferred.
Be trained and signed off on 1 of the Major Skills of Tissue Processing. This can include DSAEK, DMEK, slit lamping, L-DESK, and IEK.
