Job Overview:
Cooper Machinery Services is currently seeking a paid Engineering Summer Intern. The purpose of this internship is to develop manufacturing drawings using Cooper Reverse Engineering approach of non-OEM components. This will require basic geometry definition from 3D scan, tolerance selection based on comparable Cooper designs and material selection (based on both comparable Cooper designs and/or material determination from testing).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Utilize 3D scanning technology and/or aftermarket equipment for component design and analysis.
- Research Cooper's baseline designs to understand critical fitments and material requirements for the product.
- Test existing materials to ensure the proper selection of suitable materials for new or revised components.
- Modify existing Bill of Materials (BOMs) and drawings as needed to support product revisions or enhancements.
- Assist engineers in preparing technical data for both internal teams and external customers.
- Ensure that Cooper’s drawings and engineering standards are accurate, legible, and up to date.
- Process Engineering Work Requests that require updates to drawings or BOMs.
- Collaborate closely with Cooper's drafting resources to ensure new or revised drawings are accurate and updated promptly.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Qualified candidates will be pursuing a Mechanical Engineering Degree at an Accredited University (typically sophomore through senior year)
- Basic understanding of industry standards and the ASME Code.
- Ability to read, revise, and create detailed drawings and assembly drawings.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment, with strong organizational skills and the ability to multitask efficiently.
