Job Overview:
In this role, Director, Engine and Compressor Analytics Strategic Business Unit (aka Equipment Analytics “EA SBU”) leads the company’s Equipment Analytics strategic initiative worldwide. The primary objectives of the role are:
- Serve as the primary commercial and technical lead for all equipment analytics services and products (including periodic analysis and continuous, online monitoring systems);
- Lead and direct the company’s domestic and international team of performance analysts; and
- Build the company’s continuous, online monitoring business (DataAct) by selling, installing, and providing continuous monitoring services for customers.
This role will report to VP, Equipment Analytics & Training.
Responsibilities
- Actively defines and promotes robust Equipment Analysis programs designed to assess mechanical condition of customer equipment using engine / compressor analysis equipment.
- Implements continuous monitoring solutions (DataAct) for customers with remote monitoring capabilities and support (typically sold as a long-term service contract)
- Develops sales strategies and presentations to educate and support Cooper sales professional demonstration the benefits of the EA products and services to customers. And routinely interfaces with customers to promote the benefits of EA services and products.
- Manages delivery of equipment analysis services worldwide.

- Provides standard in-person or remote equipment analysis services for clients.
- Provides support for Cooper’s efforts in field service commissioning for emissions upgrades and pre/post overhaul analysis as required.
- Provides rapid response, troubleshooting services to identify and resolve engine/compressor problems and issues.
- Organizes, schedules, and manages the equipment analysis team worldwide.
- Manages analysis tools and equipment, travel coordination, training, analysis and report preparation, and customer interactions.
- Actively shares analysis data and reports with regional leadership and local sales managers to drive revenue improvement in parts sales and technical field service support.
Regularly reports operational status and results of the EA business unit’s progress to Cooper’s executive and leadership teams.
Required Skills & Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, operations, business or equivalent (MBA preferred).
- Minimum 5 years’ experience managing teams and individuals remotely.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience with the operation and maintenance of reciprocating engines and compression equipment.
- Strong mechanical background, and a thorough knowledge of diesel, gas engine and compressor operations and mechanics.
- Strong operations and troubleshooting skills related to rotating equipment failures and problems.
- Strong computer software skills.
- Ability to work and flourish in an independent and self-directed environment
Preferred Skills and Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience performing rotating equipment analysis and presenting findings/recommendations based on those analysis to operations and maintenance teams.
- Proficient technical communication (verbal and written) between internal Engineering, Technical Support & Sales teams, as well as our customers.
- Full detailed understanding of the machinery components and application using condition analysis and performance evaluation for reciprocating compressors and 2 cycle/4 cycle natural gas and diesel fueled engines.
- Knowledgeable regarding oil and coolant analysis programs and their benefits to Predictive Maintenance programs.
- Ultrasonic and FFT vibration analysis
- Familiar with computer-based maintenance systems to support integration of the predictive maintenance initiatives when an opportunity presents itself.
