Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the daily operations of the accounting and AP teams – including managing, training, and hiring staff
- Lead the month and year-end accounting close process, including preparation and review of general ledger accounts, flux analysis, accrual entries, and notes to the financials
- Assist Controller with, and eventually manage, the annual financial audit, including the drafting of financial statement disclosures
- Assist Controller with the evaluation and implementation of internal controls, develop, and maintain standard operating procedures (SOP’s)
- Oversee all accounting duties for New Restaurant Openings (NRO’s) including payment of deposits on equipment, licenses and permitting, business registrations, and bank account and vendor setup
- Coordinate with outside consultants regarding sales and use tax compliance, fixed asset management, PPT and income tax preparation, and license renewals
- Responsible for monthly and quarterly Lease Accounting (ASC 842) processes
- Assist in research of accounting guidance and implementation of new accounting process, fixed assets and goodwill impairment analysis and documentation
- Oversee cash management including weekly reconciliation of bank accounts, daily cash overs/short reporting, tracking of cash on hand, smart safe and armored car (Brinks) management
- Assist with development of financial training for existing and new management staff
- Responsible for the entry and review of the bi-weekly payroll and all necessary allocations
- Responsible for the oversight of AP in the preparation of annual 1099’s
- Additional duties as assigned
What We Are Looking For:
- 5+ years of overall experience in accounting required
- 2+ years of supervisory experience required
- CPA preferred.
- Restaurant accounting experience preferred
- Public accounting experience is preferred
- Advanced Excel
- NetSuite experience preferred, but not required
- Excellent management and supervisory skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Proficient in accounting and tax preparation software.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
- Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
- Able to travel as needed.
