PRIMARY PURPOSE

 

CNA is hiring for a Senior Payroll Accountant. This role sits in the Chief Financial Office (CFO). The CFO is responsible for the management of CNA’s finances and overall financial health of the organization. This includes managing all aspects of financial and cash flow planning, project accounting, contracts and procurement, real estate and facility management, as well as analyzing CNA’s short-term and long-term financial position. The Senior Payroll Accountant will coordinate and maintain all aspects of payroll information and the payroll system, including the payroll database, and the accounting system master file. They will be responsible for all activities necessary to process the payroll to include maintaining tax records, involuntary deductions, garnishments, preparing accounting documents and preparing reports for management.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND / OR DUTIES

  1. Responsible for the timely and accurate biweekly payroll processing of all employee wages and tax related withholdings for subsequent payments to Federal, State and Local jurisdictions according to defined timelines. Annual W-2 reporting to employees and balancing reports to support all required agencies filings is included in this responsibility.
  2. Responsible for accuracy of payroll records and processing including, but is not limited to ensuring appropriate PTO accruals, wage garnishments, overtime calculations, direct deposit enrollments, and employee wage allowances.
  3. Ensure that the Dayforce and Costpoint systems are in agreement.
  4. Actively monitors regulations and ensures CNA is compliant with all federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations and advises management on actions needed to ensure compliance with those guidelines.
  5. Contribute to the development of new methods regarding the payroll and labor functional areas of CFO.
  6. Maintain Dayforce reports, pension reports, quarterly tax filings and other quarterly reports for reconciliation by compiling summaries of earnings, taxes, deductions, leave, disability, and nontaxable wages.
  7. Provide support for internal and external audits including Government compliance audits.
  8. Provide customers service to all requests involving payroll related matters.
  9. Perform other duties as assigned.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  1. Education: Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience required. Certified Payroll Professional or Fundamental Payroll Professional preferred.
  2. Experience: Minimum 5 years payroll experience with an automated payroll/human resource system and payroll processing. Experience with Dayforce and Costpoint preferred.
  3. Skills: Strong analytical skills with a strong attention to detail and accuracy. Strong computer skills with proficiency in Excel. Excellent administrative and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities. Effective oral and written communication. Excellent customer service skills with the ability to effectively communicate with individuals at all levels of the organization.
  4. Hybrid Work Eligibility: This position is eligible for hybrid work arrangements at the discretion of the Supervisor.  Employees may be required to work at CNA headquarters or other work locations resulting in changes to the scheduled hybrid work arrangements.
  5. Clearance: Ability to obtain and maintain an active security clearance.
