Position Summary:

The Loan Analyst I is responsible for properly managing credit risk and the Bank’s financial exposure through effective implementation of Recreation Lending policy and Procedures. The Loan Analyst position will report to the Assistant Credit Manager and will work with the various internal groups to ensure that Bank requirements are met and fulfilled.  Supports the overall direction of financial activities of the Department as well as Merrick Bank Corporation (the “Bank”) by performing, or assisting in the performance of, the primary duties listed below.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Analyzes application and credit bureau information for credit worthiness and makes decisions to either approve or decline applications within the principles of Regulation B and Merrick Bank policy and procedure.

 

  • Evaluates requests for credit by gathering and reviewing financial and credit related information in order to make a determination of credit worthiness of individuals.

 

  • Utilizes the information provided by Applicants, Dealerships and credit bureau information provided in order to properly assess the risk associated with requests for credit and render an appropriate decision, while adhering to Bank and Department Policy as well as procedures.

 

  • Works with establishing and maintaining positive working relationships with both external as well as internal stakeholders.

 

  • Keeps abreast of developments in relevant state and federal regulations, systems and procedures and makes appropriate recommendations for improving efficiency and compliance

 

  • Performs various other duties as assigned.

 

Compliance with Laws & Regulations: 

  • Responsible for complying with all of the Bank’s internal control policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with all laws and regulations to which the Bank is subject.
  • Responsible for communicating problems in operations, noncompliance with the code of conduct, noncompliance with laws and regulations, policy violations, or illegal acts.

 

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent education is required.
  • One (1) year work experience in a credit or banking related field is preferred.

 

 

Summary of Qualifications:

  • Effective planning, organization, time management, and problem solving skills.

 

  • Strong oral and written communication skills as well as sound judgment.

 

  • Ability to work effectively under pressure.  Skill at handling a variety of assignments simultaneously.  Flexibility, ability, and willingness to work at a rapid pace in strict time frames. 

 

  • Willingness to work in partnership with Dealerships, Financial Service Providers and other stakeholders to ensure a productive relationship.

 

  • Strong understanding of Bank policies and procedures including those associated with the Recreation Lending Department.
