Analyst II, Campaign Management
The Analyst II (Acquisitions) is a key member of the Analytics and Data Science team supporting all of Merrick Bank’s lending businesses. This position develops and manages analytical processes in consultation with executives for loan acquisition strategies. The Analyst II position designs, evaluates, reports, and presents acquisition marketing and performance tests and will be a subject matter expert. This position also develops, improves, updates, and maintains acquisition data sources, files, reports, and business intelligence applications. Manages internal data (flat files, SAS datasets, and relational SQL tables) related to the credit card originations process.
Essential Functions:
- Evaluates and improves on the current state of our credit card product terms including, but not limited to, the following:

- Evaluates past tests and proposes new tests to continually improve our product terms and other solicitation materials.
- Tracks market conditions and proposes changes to our offerings to keep our product offerings in line with the market.
- Makes significant contributions as an acquisition strategies SME resource to management. This includes understanding executives and giving the relevant information on how to structure tests to achieve objectives, explaining results to non-statisticians, and providing suggestions on how to improve current strategies.
- Maintains and update credit card originations related data files (ETL).
- Develops, updates, and maintains business intelligence applications such as shiny. Work with management to improve the value and quality of business intelligence.
- Utilizes various statistical techniques to analyze the credit card customer performance and create strategies to optimize risk/reward relationship.
- Provides analytic support for all new account acquisition campaigns and channels.
- Coordinates the development, maintenance and ongoing management of daily, weekly and monthly marketing reports.
- Investigates, evaluates and interprets consumer, competitor and economic market trends to inform new product offerings and test strategies.
- Develops and maintains comprehensive performance reports for all campaigns and strategies implemented to acquire new credit card accounts. This would include summarizing campaign strategy, objectives, results, and recommending new strategies to various committees and management.
- Manages strategy and implementation/audit documentation with other departments and with outside vendors.
- Supports modeling group in periodic modeling efforts.
Compliance with Laws & Regulations:
- Responsible for complying with all of the Bank’s internal control policies and procedures.
- Responsible for understanding and complying with all laws and regulations to which the Bank is subject.
- Responsible for communicating problems in operations, noncompliance with the code of conduct, noncompliance with laws and regulations, policy violations, or illegal acts.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in an analytical discipline such as math, finance, statistics, computer science, economics, engineering, or a hard science is required.
- Master’s degree is preferred.
- Three (3) years' experience in data manipulation and analysis, utilizing statistics.
- Three (3) years’ experience in credit card acquisition (or similar) is highly preferred.
Summary of Qualifications:
- Experience optimizing financial product. For example, eliminating underperforming segments and identifying high performing segments that can handle better product terms.
- Experience clearly and persuasively communicating the financial benefits of strategy changes to senior management.
- Experience with credit card new account acquisition and/or modeling is preferred.
- Experience using analytical software such as R, Shiny, SAS, SQL and related data mining applications.
- Experience using financial modeling tools to game different outcomes of product changes.
- Ability to possess a track record of growing credit card originations by identifying and implementing large wins.
- Ability to demonstrate a deep understanding of credit card financial drivers and how to tweak products to optimize credit offerings.
- Ability to demonstrate a deep understanding of marketing copy and creative rotation to improve responses.
- Excellent problem solving, communication, verbal/written presentation skills, attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
- Familiarity with statistical / quantitative analysis processes.
- Familiarity with credit bureau databases and processes preferred.
- Ability to perform duties with little supervision and will be able to assist other analysts.
