The Manager, Flow Lending supports the development of the strategy and execution of all Flow Lending partnerships for Merrick Bank (the “Bank”). As a member of the Lending functions’ focus on flow lending, this position supports efforts to ensure the financial performance and success of the Flow Lending vertical, including assessing new partnerships for fit by both the desired return profile and the Bank’s strategic aims.

Essential Functions:

 

Core Strategy, Partnerships, and Collaboration:

 

  • Leads deal analytics, performance reporting, and cross-functional project initiatives.
  • Works cross-functionally (compliance, ops, finance) to ensure flawless execution across all partnerships,
  • Builds and owns financial models to measure unit economics and deal-level returns, monitoring to stay on top of performance trends.
  • Defines segmentation specific to each Flow Lending partner to drive deeper understanding of profitability dynamics, and reinforcing that understanding back into the strategy.
  • Designs, develops, and maintains performance dashboards and reports that provide actionable insights into business performance and key metrics.
  • Works closely with finance, strategy, and senior management to align analytical efforts with business objectives and strategic goals

 

Business Growth, Deal Valuations, and Performance Reporting:

 

  • Assesses new Flow Lending opportunities as they arise, analyzing loan tapes, understanding the partner’s strengths and weaknesses, and forming a point of view on the potential for the partnership.
  • Participates in deal structuring to ensure the Bank meets its targeted returns while taking on risk appropriate with MB’s established risk appetite.
  • Monitors and analyzes performance trends, identifying areas for improvement and providing recommendations to drive business growth.
  • Oversees ad hoc analysis activities; including new product modeling, “what-if” strategic/economic scenarios, and product optimization analysis.
  • Operates as subject matter expert for each Flow Lending partnership
  • Engages with Flow Lending partners to drive actions that lead to better outcomes for both sides of the partnership.

 

Results Communication, ensuring Compliance:

 

  • Prepares and presents detailed analysis and reports to senior management, highlighting key findings, trends, and implications for strategic decision-making
  • Manages necessary documentation and procedures consistent with an audited environment.
  • Proactively develops additional ad hoc reporting and data visualizations to assist in strategic business planning and decision-making.
  • Understands and complies with all the Bank’s internal control policies; support the broader team’s efforts to ensure compliance controls are sound and any issues are communicated and acted upon appropriately

 

Compliance with Laws & Regulations: 

 

  • Responsible for complying with all of the Bank’s internal control policies and procedures.
  • Responsible for understanding and complying with all laws and regulations to which the Bank is subject.
  • Responsible for communicating problems in operations, noncompliance with the code of conduct, noncompliance with laws and regulations, policy violations, or illegal acts.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an analytical discipline such as math, finance, statistics, computer science, economics, engineering, or related field is required.
  • Masters’ degree (MBA, MS) is preferred.
  • Five (5) years’ experience developing and managing complex valuation models (e.g., NPV models, customer lifetime value frameworks, credit facility/securitization models, corporate financial forecasting).

 

Summary of Qualifications:

 

  • Advanced MS Office experience with emphasis on Excel. Possesses the ability to decipher, understand, and implement complex formulas. Ability to read and write basic VBA scripts preferred. Experience developing complex financial models is preferred.
  • Comfort with a variety of database and analytical environments and languages, such as SQL, SAS, Python, or others.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and provide actionable insights.
  • Experience with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and familiarity with modern predictive modeling techniques.
  • Ability to work through unconventional problems to identify issues and provide resolutions.
  • Strong business acumen and strategic thinking abilities, with a focus on driving results and optimizing performance.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written with proven ability to present results to senior management.
